I recorded @MTPpod with @randy_silver & @lilylimpet about how -#product had changed & also how it hadn’t in my 20yrs experience. I actively avoided doing podcasts as I didn’t think I had anything innovative to say but decided not to let that stop me 😁 youtu.be/G321BEjTvhY?si=XPsY….

The truth about becoming a Platform PM without an engineering background: Most advice tells you to "learn to code" or "master system design." I've found a completely different path that actually works. A thread on what really matters 👇

Social housing only tells a part of the story. However, we need to address this & also avoid private housing crisis which the south has kicked down the road since l left Dublin in 2003. We need creativity & short term focus on dereliction - there is potential stock being hoarded
Ireland Population: 5.38m Social Housing waiting list = 58,000 NI Population: 1.9m Social Housing waiting list = 47,000 🚨 If you can't see the problem facing NI and act now to provide more social & affordable homes, then be prepared for things to get a lot worse.

The most delightful map I’ve ever seen: “The Italian Pasta Map” 🇮🇹🍝 I would love to use it as an “Advent Calendar” enjoying a different pasta dish every day from now until Christmas! What’a your favorite?

I was asked to look at the #ticketmaster queuing service over 10 years ago in a classic hospital pass by a previous VP of #product. It needed completely rebuilt but there was no appetite to do it as there was no proven alternative

We did a quick piece of development to add custom text to be able to update fans on ticket availability in the queue. I suggested adding Tetris to queueing page to entertain fans but was outvoted 😁

Classic example no one wanting to be associated with an incredibly complex problem with no guarantee of success so it gets kicked down the road. 1 of most common failures of product strategy by not blending big bets with smaller, quicker enhancements

Could we do a version of this for Belfast? For the size of city I would say it’s worse. There should be a time based use it or lose it law. Dereliction is the acceptable face of vandalism @davidmcw
Allowing properties to remain derelict for decades should be considered a crime against the state. Ireland's housing system is in a state of disrepair, primarily due to ineffective Government policies. My graphic reveals the sites featured in today's Irish Times. 'How a site in a sought-after area of Dublin remains derelict after 20 years of inactivity' by Ronan McGreevy. irishtimes.com/ireland/housi… 43-50 Dolphin’s Barn Street. 33-37 Dolphin’s Barn Street. 148-160 South Circular Rd, Player Wills Cigarette Factory and St Teresa’s Gardens. 355 South Circular Road, Rialto Cinema. 103-104 Cork Street, The James Weir Home. #DerelictIreland #VacantIreland #Dublin #Ireland
