- How 560K in gross revenue with a Publisher turns into 73K. - How 560K in gross revenue with China refunds turns into 73K. Por alguna razón, se nombra a Steam, que sí, se lleva su 30% .
Brutal reality of making 500K on Steam as a game dev

Folks, I left Microsoft three months ago to start my own company. Two weeks after I left, my whole team in Australia was let go. I see the hurt it’s causing my ex-colleagues, their families and their kids. Layoffs, forced relocations, PIPs. It’s brutal and I don’t want to brush past that. But here’s my honest take. Microsoft needs fewer people. I’ve been on the inside. I’ve seen how things get built. Lots of small orgs. Layers on layers. Silos everywhere. Here’s a real example. The Entra team shipped managed identities back in 2017. No more secrets in code. A clear security win. Then they tried to get the rest of Microsoft to adopt it. Very few teams did, and the ones that did moved at a snail’s pace. Every org had its own priorities and its own decision makers. It took Microsoft getting hacked, and the Secure Future Initiative that followed, before things really moved. Today almost every Microsoft app and service supports managed identity. Six years, and a major breach, to get there. In a world with agents and fewer people, that rollout would be possible across Microsoft in months, not years. Microsoft already has everything else. The customers. The infrastructure. The scale. What it needs is fewer people, leaning hard into agentic work. Right now OpenAI and Anthropic are shipping at a pace Microsoft can’t match. Microsoft has to change to survive.

if you're this retarded it would blow your mind to realize that DLLs allow you not just to execute JScript commands but to execute _actual code_.
Someone shared an interesting concept about DLL's and it's interesting to be aware that some DLL have powerful capabilities such as holding full scripting engines on them, for example Chakra.dll which has the JScript engine and allows us to execute JScript commands, a small C++ proxy DLL to execute the proper JsCreateRuntime → JsCreateContext → JsRunScript headers

This paper answers why confident idiots run the world. Cornell University published a psychological paper that explains every terrible boss, every loud influencer, and every broken corporate hierarchy. It’s called “Unskilled and Unaware of It.” they tested participants across logic, grammar, and humor to measure the gap between actual performance and self-perception. And the results are wild. participants scoring in the bottom 12th percentile consistently believed they were operating in the 62nd percentile. they were not lying. they were literally incapable of recognizing their own incompetence. the paper revealed a brutal paradox: the exact skills required to master a domain are the exact same skills required to accurately evaluate your own competence in that domain. if you lack the skill, you inherently lack the cognitive capacity to realize you are failing. this creates a dangerous systemic loop. the incompetent are blessed with absolute, blinding certainty. their brain protects them from their own ignorance, allowing them to speak first, demand authority, and never second-guess their decisions. meanwhile, the actual experts suffer the exact inverse. top performers in the study consistently underestimated their rank. because a task was easy for them, they falsely assumed it was easy for everyone else. they hesitate. they obsess over nuance. they assume they have nothing unique to add. we are biologically wired to confuse confidence with competence. the loudest person in the room gets promoted, gets funded, and gets the microphone, not because they know what they are doing, but because they are physically incapable of seeing what they don't. the only defense mechanism is building systems that stop rewarding absolute certainty and start demanding proof of work.

how can someone both be this ignorant and this lazy to not look it up beforehand
The 40-hour workweek wasn’t given to workers. It was fought for and won by generations of labor advocates who demanded fair treatment on the job. On 40-Hour Work Weekday, we honor the workers and unions who secured better wages, safer workplaces, and the right to a healthy work-life balance. As Co-Chair of the Congressional Labor Caucus, I’ll keep fighting to protect workers’ rights, strengthen unions, and make sure every hardworking Nevadan is treated with dignity and respect.

🚨 BREAKING: Enact has emerged from stealth with $30M in pre-seed funding! The largest pre-seed round ever raised in Switzerland! 🇨🇭 Backed by redalpine, Notion Capital and firstminute capital. Angel investors include Mistral founder Arthur Mensch, Yann LeCun, and Andrew Lonsberry. The company is building robots that feel force and touch, but not through external sensors. Through their motors. Touch sensors exist. But they tend to be too costly and fragile for real factory conditions. Enact's approach measures force inside the motors themselves, comparing it to the way humans feel tension in their muscles, not just at their fingertips. No separate sensors to break. No additional hardware to integrate. The capability lives in what the robot already has. And it works across anything from a simple robot arm to a full humanoid. Founder @manumerous built the software for 1X's NEO humanoid before joining Physical Intelligence. He founded Enact in March 2026. The 12-person team includes engineers from DeepMind, Amazon Robotics and Helsing. He chose Zürich over Silicon Valley deliberately. "Silicon Valley has traditionally been very strong in software and AI, but it's lacking in robotics and hardware engineering talent." Plans to grow the team fivefold by end of 2027. First deployments in manufacturing, infrastructure, retail and food processing across Europe. Touch has been the missing sense in robotics for decades. Enact is building it into the motor itself. 🫆 ~~  ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news → ziegler.substack.com

100% open-source robotic arm! 🦾 @seeedstudio released reBot-DevArm, a robotic arm project lowering the barrier to learning robotics... or how people call it these days: physical AI. Everything is open-sourced. Hardware blueprints include sheet metal and 3D printed parts. Detailed BOM covers every screw with purchase links. Software and algorithms include Python SDK, ROS1/2, Isaac Sim, and LeRobot. Let's have a look at robot specs. So it has 1.5 kg payload, 650 mm max reach, 4.5 kg weight, and less than 0.2 mm repeatability with 6 DoF plus gripper. This is true open source for robotics. When every screw, CAD file, motor driver, and algorithm is freely available, desktop robotic arms become accessible to students, researchers, and developers worldwide. ‼️ Start your career in robotics today: github.com/Seeed-Projects/re… We need more roboticists than ever! ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news → ziegler.substack.com

Yo tampoco. Pero son las cartas que tenemos en la mano a día de hoy. Creo que es tarde para cambiar el juego al que nos gustaría jugar y nos toca jugar al que nos dejan. Si no juegas tú, juega otro por ti.

we can argue whether the value justifies the take or not (I think it does btw, Steam does _A LOT_ for you besides just hosting and collecting payment for your game), but the claiming that Valve is the _worst_ company in gaming is, to put it diplomatically, unhinged.
Valve is the worst company in gaming. In a world that has EA. They live off rent - 30% of every sale, paid by the people who actually make the games we love. They don’t make games. They only make hardware as a hedge against Microsoft. Everything is about defending the monopoly that collects the rent. The Airbnb/eBay of gaming.
