Great Southern Copper (LSE: GSCU) is preparing to commence its fourth phase of diamond drilling at the Cerro Negro prospect in Chile, with up to 5,000 metres planned to expand its high-grade copper-silver discovery at Mostaza and test new exploration targets. The programme will focus on extending mineralisation beneath the historic Mostaza mine, investigating additional copper-silver lodes along the Mostaza Fault Zone and conducting the first-ever drilling at Monolith, where surface sampling has identified widespread copper-silver mineralisation. Recent geophysical surveys have also identified anomalies for testing, while further metallurgical work will assess lower-grade material. Previous exploration completed 6,658 metres of drilling across three campaigns, establishing evidence of a potentially larger porphyry-related mineral system. All drilling permits are secured, with the rig currently being mobilised. Management aims to build towards a maiden mineral resource estimate, with drilling results and the potential discovery of additional mineralised zones providing the next major catalysts.@greatscopper

Great Southern Copper CEO Sam Garrett reflects on a career spanning more than 30 years in mineral exploration, from growing up around volcanoes and prospecting in Papua New Guinea to working across major copper and gold districts around the world.
Sam discusses the discoveries and experiences that shaped him as a geologist, why persistence and critical thinking matters in exploration, and why he believes juniors need to “lead with drilling as fast as we can and get some answers.”
Bringing it back to GSC, Sam sums up the opportunity in three words: “Scale. Location. Opportunity.”

Great Southern Copper's chief executive Sam Garrett joins Vox to talk about the latest metallurgical results from the company's Mostaza project in Chile. The results show strong recoveries from high grade ore, and mean that Great Southern can now report its grades at Mostaza in equivalents, such that the highest grade intercept over more than 20 metres comes in at 6% copper equivalent. A fourth phase of drilling is about to get underway, and further metallurgical work will run in parallel.
