Even Burnham’s own Labour Party faction says today’s budget has “missed opportunities”. Nothing on taxing wealth, or on rent controls, or unfreezing LHA, or unfreezing the personal allowance tax threshold
Ending 40 years of neoliberalism can only be delivered by radical action to facilitate wholesale change to the economy. A comment from Mainstream's Interim Council on the Government's Budget.

Does ANYONE believe Burnham’s Budget is the end of (bond market) neoliberalism? Seems more like Continuity Keith to us…

No mention of the housing benefit freeze in John Healey's Budget speech. Looks like it remains despite calls from over a dozen charities this weekend. Andy Burnham called for the freeze to end while mayor of Greater Manchester.

Truly pathetic budget for the scale of crisis the people of Britain are in. - Nothing in rent controls or unfreezing LHA - Nothing on taxing wealth, or any significant cost of living measures - Nothing on increasing the personal allowance for working people

The freeze on local housing allowance continues
🚨 BREAKING: Despite rising rents, the government has chosen not to end the freeze on housing support in today’s #Budget2026. For years, rents have continued to rise but support hasn’t. As a result, too many people are being forced to decide between paying the rent and putting food on the table. While the government's decision to provide more support with energy bills is positive, keeping housing support frozen means many will still struggle to afford the essentials. The government wants to end the need for emergency food. It won't achieve that while housing support remains frozen.

Was that it? It all felt very familiar. A Labour Government totally unwilling to take on power and wealth and give our country the investment we so desperately need. Join.greenparty.org.uk

I’ve asked this before but is there any historical event that is like the Opposite of 9/11. Like something so good that happened that it changed the world forever

Andy Burnham is asked about Rosebank and Jackdaw oil and gas fields. He says "Use of our resources can support and accelerate a clean energy future" We are truly down the rabbit hole with this utter nonsense. Invest in renewables, insulate homes & say no to fossil fuels.

😆😆 Momentum have lost touch with reality
Burnham has laid out a bold vision for Britain. Now, we must turn his vision into action. Socialists are already organising across our movement. But we need you. It’s time for a socialist Labour Party ready to deliver change. Join Labour. Join Momentum mtm.is/join

Do mainstream (and their members) really believe any of this will happen in the budget?

Russell Brand’s trial is devastating. Testimony describes him as a rabid animal, demanding sex every few hours from whoever happened to be around, and taking it regardless of consent Brand’s defense is that women knew he was a degenerate maniac, so they should have expected it by being in a room with him (several allege he attacked them in public and tried to drag them into bathroom stalls) This is separate from FIVE disturbing allegations in Channel 4 Dispatches. Brand has zero regard for women as human beings - I can’t even imagine how many victims there truly are Blows my mind that so many people peddle his lunacy portraying him as a truth-telling martyr being smeared by the establishment - and buy his newfound religious hucksterism Makes sense he’s leapt into the movement of sexual offenders and pedophiles, where he belongs (other than prison)

Labour’s Sunday deadline for Green council groups to disavow the ZiR motion has passed. How many Green groups (if any) have capitulated to Labour’s demand? How many power sharing council arrangements have Labour collapsed as a result?

Another broken promise from Shameful Labour
Labour's 2024 Manifesto said that it was 'discriminatory' to have different minimum wage rates for younger and older workers. They pledged to abolish 'discriminatory age bands.' Healey has reneged - and Labour has now broken another promise. Stupid, short-sighted stuff.

Labour now briefing young people won't get the same minimum wage uplift. Even Starmer didn't break this pledge. Workers rights mean same rights, pay & conditions, same rate for the same job. What does this Labour government have against young people? inews.co.uk/news/politics/mi…

Pleased to sign this cross-party letter opposing Rosebank and Jackdaw licences. The long term costs of new drilling far outweigh any short-term gain. We cannot credibly urge other countries to leave fossil fuels in the ground while greenlighting new oil and gas projects.

Almost feels like Compass and Neal Lawson, who were big supporters of Burnham in the past, are realising he’s not going to do take any of the progressive measures they were hoping he’d take
"He promised change, he promised something very different from Keir Starmer, & if he doesn't deliver eventually something very different from Keir Starmer then he's going to be in trouble" @Neal_Compass on Andy Burnham & next weeks budget

Ex (Failed) Chancellor Rachel Reeves refused to answer this question, earlier in the year, but it’s very important. Will Labour UNFREEZE and INCREASE local housing allowance? To lessen the gap between market rents in private sector and what can be claimed thru the housing element of Universal Credit. m.youtube.com/watch?v=AfdTRU…
