Big win for #LFC that, and it reminds the rest of the PL that they still mean business. Plenty of positives, including: 🔴Barcola's defensive/out of possession work 🔴Isak red hot 🔴Araujo's strength 🔴Sharp on the counter attack 🔴Brushing aside the form team 🔴Importance of first home win in PL Wirtz will also be hoping the discomfort he was feeling is not too disruptive as he's certainly growing into the season. nytimes.com/athletic/7723111…

Ronald Araujo's whole-hearted approach to football is so enjoyable. It's why #LFC supporters have quickly taken to him. He'll make mistakes but he'll throw his body on the line, slide into a tackle, win the ball aggressively and then everything feels alright.

Lethal from #LFC as they make it 2-0. Isak again, and brilliant from Barcola to win the ball, show great strength and set up the goal.

That's nice for Florian Wirtz. A shot, deflected massively off Gross and into the bottom corner. Goals in back to back Anfield games for the German. #LFC

That #LFC starting XI is stacked. And looks exciting. But not starting Ngumoha after the way he played on Tuesday is weird.

On Sunday it will be 6 months since #LFC last won a PL game at Anfield. 4 draws and 1 defeat across 5 games. The third-longest in the club’s PL history. The longest winless run at home in the PL is 8 games. Up next: Brighton & Arsenal W/@adjones_journo nytimes.com/athletic/7713886…

Jeremie Frimpong is a fun, energetic, slightly erratic but explosive and hard-working player. Watching him at #LFC should be entertaining. At this point it just feels sad that so many cruel injury setbacks have knocked him out of sync. nytimes.com/athletic/7710048…

Who should win the men’s Ballon d’Or? That's the question our reporters asked 100 people in football — players and managers, past and present, coaches, sporting directors, scouts, presidents and other executives from around the world. There were some slightly eyebrow-raising selections. A current Bundesliga sporting director voted for Declan Rice in second place. A former international player and manager picked Marc Cucurella in third. A former Premier League coach chose Marquinhos in third place. The winner? Harry Kane. By some margin. 📝 @NickMiller79, @Conor0Neill_ Free to read 🆓 bit.ly/4yzwqoa

A quarter of clubs in the Premier League + Barcelona and many more in La Liga are now using Smart Urinals. So what are the benefits? 🔴 Arsenal 🔵 Man City 🟣 Aston Villa 🔴 Man Utd 🔵 Ipswich Town nytimes.com/athletic/7704936…

Rio Ngumoha’s blistering form continued as he tore apart Villarreal. The teenager was handed a start after changing the game in the 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday and he didn’t disappoint. In the first half his direct and purposeful play was the only bright spark in an otherwise disappointing display from the hosts and after the break he stepped up another gear with a stunning assist for Liverpool’s third. He was substituted in the 74th minute to a standing ovation. After a slow start to the season, it feels like this was Ngumoha’s best game for Liverpool. This is a player coming of age. 📝 @greggevans40 Liverpool 4-3 Villarreal Briefing: nyti.ms/3UFMd74

Well that was fun, even if a little too close for comfort for #LFC Thoughts on the 4-3 win, including: 🔴Why Rio was so good 🔴How Wirtz is growing into the season 🔴Iraola's changes & Villarreal's constant threat 🔴VVD's weird start w/@ThomHarris_ nytimes.com/athletic/7704314…

A standing ovation for Rio Nguomha as he is replaced by Bradley Barcola. A stunning attacking display from the 18-year-old. Genuinely a joy to watch. #LFC

On my word, Rio Ngumoha! Sensational wing play. He sets up Mac Allister who makes it 3-2 #LFC Chants of "Rio, Rio" echo around The Kop. What a player.

2-2 (Araujo) #LFC It's all about Rio! Beautiful cross to the back post and Araujo dives in to head home, then dives into the crowd. Absolutely loves it.

Okay, #LFC are back in it. 1-2 (Mac Allister). A lovely header from a corner. That's sparked Anfield into life.

An absolute shambles of a goal. Ngumoha doesn't track Cardona. Van Dijk is pulled out of position. Jacquet caught out. And the midfield nowhere to be seen. A really poor second goal to concede by #LFC
