Deep Choice in Six Man Football. This is a great way to get the ball to a specific player if you want to exploit a certain matchup, or just give one or more of your WRs a play off and an easy read for the QB. Players are given three options: Go, Comeback, or Bend. The Bender has no specific design other than to react to the leverage of the safety, so it could be as sharp as a dig or as minor as a skinny post. The WR reads both their immediate defender’s cushion/presnap leverage, post snap body language/hip direction, as well as safety leverage (if applicable) to determine what to run. We call this as either a distinguished play to a specific player (Y Choice, etc), or have an All Choice tag, in which all split WRs are running their own choice routes and QB can pick whichever matchup he prefers. This Veer and Shoot staple has been a great compliment to our normal Air Raid scheme.
