What’s everyone’s setup for recording online lectures? I’ve been using a microphone from a vlogging kit, but I want to improve the audio quality.
After six long years, 50+ nights in hotels, 10,000+ miles on the road, and lots of lots of coffee, I defended my dissertation today and became Dr. Gabrielle Lyle. I’ve been so lucky to have such a stellar committee. @CKBlanton @soniahistoria @fhinojosa956

Fellow female academics, when you got married did you change your last name? Did you hyphenate or maybe go by your maiden name professionally but married name in your personal life. I’m leaning towards hyphenating or two middle names, but I’m unsure of the logistics.
I made my podcast debut today! It became more complex of an issue to talk about since I originally was asked, but I think we had a great conversation on the matter. Thank you to @peppard_anna for reaching out to me and giving me this opportunity as a younger scholar.
We're back! Scholar of comics & Jewish diasporas Gabrielle Lyle talks Jewish histories of superheroes & what they gain or lose when they become nationalist symbols in #Excalibur #121, “Friends Like These,” co-starring Israeli superhero Sabra. #XMen

I think my flight delay is going to cost me my @WhaHistory Welcome Reception 🥲
Advice on how to get better at projecting yourself during lectures? I’m a pretty quiet individual to begin with and I’m going up against a loud HVAC system in the building.
Making final plans for my U.S history since 1877 class this fall. Any suggestions for an easily accessible documentary on black history? Can be any decade, but it might be neat to have one focusing on the early 20th century. #twitterstorians
Currently reading comic book group posts on Facebook saying how young people all lack passion (while complaining about updated character looks) & there’ll be no more great artists like Pérez again…kinda don’t feel like Pérez would have been the type to bring other artists down😕
I did my “Texas during WWII” lecture today and I think the students enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun to prepare and give.
First international presentation is in the books! Thank you @The_EAJS for accepting my paper and thank you @historyTAMU for supporting me!
Doing my best to fight the jet lag on this trip. I think my body has reached it’s “You need to stay in one place for a bit” point after almost constant travel since April.
I find it hard when traveling abroad to get out of my American 20% tipping mindset. I’m just to used to wanting to make sure I tip well despite not making much money myself at this stage in my career since I’m worried about my server’s well-being.
Any good publicly available online resources for Texas oral histories? I have Baylor’s down. Doing a project with the undergrads where they can pick a recording to listen to and I’m just curious if there’s more selection I can give them. #twitterstorians
Today was my first day teaching as the instructor on record. I think it went well though I totally spaced on asking if my volume was good. Not the worst thing that could happen on your first syllabus day though.
So cool! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
