In any theory for quantum black holes that allows information of in going material to emerge in the out going Hawking particles, the temperature is twice the value calculated by Hawking. How come no one seems to have noticed this before?

To all scientists who use LaTeX to make the slides for their Zoom presentation: please erase everywhere in your file your \pause commands. \pause does not work as intended, making your presentation difficult to follow (without you noticing the bug)

With NASA technology, it should be possible to develop remotely controlled robots, to be attached to cables, to save victims from a fall into a well or pipe such as what happened to little Rayan in Morocco.

To host extraterrestrial intelligent life, any planet will have to pass several necessary - while very improbable - bottlenecks. I think it is unlikely that we'll ever detect intelligent signals. But nobody knows.

Congratulations to my friend and colleague Giorgio Parisi for the 2021 Nobel Prize in physics. Remembering frequent discussions in the 1970s about large N and other features of quantised field theories.

The rest of the world should decide to organise our measures to aid India, producing and delivering vaccines for 1.3 billion people, starting this minute. In addition we should think of Brazil and other countries where the situation is urgent. It’s also our own interest.

Will software designers ever discover that they forget to add some identification when asking for my "password", instead of suggesting that I "forgot" my password? Don't they know that I have hundreds of different passwords that cannot be kept apart?

Why do many news pages come with video clips that go way too fast to follow what’s happening, while looping without pause? Please add buttons “choose speed” and “loop:yes/no"

I agree with GROASIS that climate change can be combatted more efficiently by reforestation programs than by attempting to reduce CO2 emissions.

Geen breuken meer op de lagere school? Denkt men werkelijk dat je kinderen dan wel kansberekening kunt leren? Hoe moet dat als ze de breuken niet snappen? En breuken zijn gemakkelijker en leuker.

I found the solution, although I didn’t guess exactly right the meaning of the inclinations of the word “chalwa”. But it is great to suddenly discover that you can read it!
