Here's the book! ➡️ mainstory.fr
Such a pleasure to finally share it with you.
Like Disneyland, it can continue to evolve as long as there are things to say. But I'm happy with this version and hope you enjoy it. Let me know your thoughts and share it if you love it
Is Disney finally changing its mindset? Moving towards more subtle, modern and contemporary designs?
(Still overpriced, though.)
…and last but not least, research for Automata-mericana (and a drawing shared by Eddie), which was inspired by the Cabaret Mechanical Theatre in London.
This concept came after the opening (92), when teams were asked to improve capacity as part of the ‘Added Capacity Program’
More from Sotto’s archive! Here’s the Nighthawks Diner concept from the 1920s version, which eventually became Walt’s, alongside the speakeasy. You can see there’s always a car parked in front of the entrance.
And again, from Sotto’s archive! Discover the Liberty Arcade through these sketches. You can see the “specifically vague” phase Ryman used before moving on to the finer details.
But one question remains: who is Joen Kommer? Any ideas?
More concept art from Eddie Sotto’s archive! Here you can discover the Elevate train, along with some rough sketches for the future posters underneath the station.
Another batch of Sotto's archive sold on comics.ha.com. Concepts of the Train Station, Arboretum, fountain in front of Plaza Gardens and, it seems (not sure), the interior of Plaza Gardens?
The famous concept of Town Square Photography was also sold this summer on comics.ha.com
Other artwork from Eddie Sotto's archive was sold in early September on comics.ha.com. A bit disappointed not to have seen that. Here's some artwork credited to him, but I'm pretty sure some it was also made by Ryman.
You can spot the Elevated train, the arcades here

this was meant to be a quick drawing but I did end up spending an hour on it…
I'm considering a V2 of my MSUSA book, but not just for the sake of it. I feel that the story could still be improved. So, if you worked on the project, closely or from afar, and have something to share, I'd love to hear from you.

Nouvelle acquisition ! 😀

Here’s the interview I did with composer Steve Bramson where he discussed composing for the original Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris and how it feels for it to be making its triumphant return!

I’m soon interviewing Steve Bramson about scoring the original SPACE MOUNTAIN at Disneyland Paris. It was the first rollercoaster to have a synced score and I can’t wait to hear about his creative process - especially as the ride (and soundtrack) is coming back.
Any questions?
Quite cool video posted by @ED92Magic. Back to 1991, on the buildin' site
Soooo, who managed to win a bid? I hope you found something you love and that you'll help keep Eddie's (and his aunt's) artistic legacy alive.
Excited to share that Eddie’s plethora of treasures are now for auction. I’ll always remember the Disney model that he made in childhood, fully constructed from restaurant business cards. Have fun! Click the link below:

Out of print but Archive.org scanned it all. All the pages of the 1998 Paul Dini & Chip Kidd “Batman Animated”, the behind-the-scenes story of the hit show to leaf through. archive.org/details/batman-a… #BTAS #Batman #BruceTimm #PaulDini
Some information in the auction is incorrect. For example, this painting is not an EDL concept but one made by John DeCuir. shorturl.at/FAgM8
Whenever I'm in that "1920's Main Street" mood (which is right now), I get inspired by this rather rare John DeCuir sketch. Loving the El train! @EuroDisArchives
The original MSUSA 20s map will be available to bet on it starting today until the 20th, if anyone is interested.
