Room set up for final day of our FIFA TDS Central Asia Knowledge Exchange and National Youth Coach workshop here in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. A great 5 days with key staff from Kyrgyz, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Belarus and Moldova
Focused on grassroots coaches but I believe many of the messages apply to youth coaches involved with the more talented players, and youth football in general. youtu.be/9qR9RcEfbJ4?si=qVFK…

Embrace chaos as the core reality! Games are inherently unpredictable: opponents adapt, conditions shift, mistakes happen, momentum swings. Training must mirror this “beautiful storm” rather than neat grids & choreographed predictable patterns which build false confidence.

It seems to me that a football team meets the definition of a Complex Adaptive System and a CAS operates better using self-organisation. Coaches would therefore be better advised to facilitate self-organisation rather than stifle it
New article- Could a team be totally autonomous?
The idea of a team not having tactics is often laughed at, I believe it’s the future of football.
I explain how if we start to understand synergies, adaptive systems & autonomy this can be achieved.

GENK GOALKEEPER GETS HUGS FROM LIÈGE FANS
On Sunday, RFC Liège supporters reflected on a dramatic moment off the pitch. After Brent Stevens, goalkeeper of Jong RC Genk, saved a penalty, there was a warm applause from the stands.
The show of support from the Liège fans was meant as a pat on the back for Stevens, who recently lost his father. 'That was for dad, who passed away last Saturday after a long illness', Stevens said after the final whistle in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad. 'When I heard that I would be making my debut, I was happy, but I also had mixed feelings. Dad would have wanted me to play', Stevens continued, who was regularly sung to during the match.
After the final whistle, the debutant fell into the arms of the RFC Liège supporters, who gave Stevens a hug and expressed their support. That moved Stevens, who could not prevent a defeat for Jong RC Genk (3-1). 'What the Liège players and supporters showed before and after the game exceeded all my expectations', the goalkeeper stammered. 'They showed a lot of respect. That shows that things can be different in football. Hats off to the people of Liège.'

‘Deep down, it seems that we just want to control everything in football. Having security and certainty that there is right and wrong, better and worse.’ 👇🏼⚽️@marcusarboes
Treinadores ultrapassados... (?)
Always good to see young players get playing time in older age groups, at the right time of course. Here’s U14 Ethan Fletcher taking the field in the U18s today. Bravo, Ethan! @SydneyFC

Seven of these players were part of the first ever intake at the @SydneyFC academy in late 2015. Great feeling to see them all now representing our country! Good luck, lads!
Great story! Bravo Central Coast Mariners @CCMariners
This is six year old Hendry. Feeling like he didn’t fit in, Hendry wanted to give up football. That was, until a visit to @CCMariners changed everything. 💛💙
There, he met his hero, fellow Vanuatuan Brian Kaltak, and Dan Hall - who Hendry bonded with over their shared experience of being adopted from the Pacific Islands.🫂
This is why we love football 🙌
Thanks Scott. You’ve done some great work in this space

Football coaches take note: how often do you ‘shut down their learning’ by ‘pressing on’ with what you’re ‘supposed to be working on’, driven by a periodised plan or a prescriptive model?
