Update on Wayne County Sheriff’s K9 Vick.
The Belgian Malinois was shot in the hip during the July 5 ambush in Rittman that killed Rittman Police Sgt. Scott Ries, a mother, and her 13-year-old daughter. The bullet fragmented. A piece lodged near his spine.
Vick survived. He got laser therapy. And this week the Wayne County Commissioners approved his retirement.
He will spend the rest of his days with his handler, Deputy Shane Williamson.
Good. That dog already paid enough.
Rest easy, Vick. You earned the quiet life.

Today was Donna Brothers' final time covering the Kentucky Derby for NBC. Before the race, Cherie DeVaux said "it is an honor that you get to do your last walkover with me."

Before the 16th century, carrots were black, purple, white, red, and yellow
Farmers in Hoorn found a mutant orange strain and bred it into consistency through selective hybridisation
They made orange the default
Then exported it to every kitchen on earth
The Dutch didn't conquer with armies
