Gadi Eisenkot is the father of the so-called Dahyeh Doctrine used against southern suburbs of Beirut in '06: disproportionate retaliation and destruction of civilian infrastructure to establish deterrence. Then used in Gaza.
I suspect folks may think it’s worse. Because Eisenkot represents a hammer in a satin glove.

The Houthis are using medieval tactics in Taiz, besieging close to a million people and starving them of food and water to force a submission. The global hype they gained after 2023 for supposedly standing by Gaza will dissipate when the world sees they are copying Israeli siege tactics on their fellow Yemenis. So far, the war in Yemen has largely evaded the fate of senselessly bloody civil wars we've seen in Syria, Sudan and Congo. This second siege of Taiz may be a turning point in the war, making the rules of engagement that have more or less governed it for 12 years untenable. It's almost ironic that the Houthis, who emerged from an insurgency, don't know that extreme cruelty breeds armed resistance and a violent insurgency, which can take down states, let alone an armed group still scrambling to consolidate.
Residents in Yemen’s Taiz are facing severe food and water shortages as a Houthi blockade cuts off a key supply route.

"Carpet bomb them all". Speaking to The Guardian at an event ahead of Israel’s elections, a young Israeli woman called for Palestinians to be forcibly displaced from the Gaza Strip, saying they should be killed if they cannot be removed.

Representatives of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries will meet with the H.E. Trying to imagine how much El-Sayed would have been pilloried if he had gone on tv shows and said this about Stevens had she won in the primary
BASH: “You're still fully behind Abdul El-Sayed?” STEVENS: “Look, I'm on the Democratic ticket. I can't say that I agree with everything that's gone on… I'm looking to be on the team to support my next governor Jocelyn Benson, and frankly these great Democrats who are working their tails off, who are going to make Hakeem Jeffries the first black Speaker of the House.” BASH: “You didn't mention Abdul El-Sayed in that last answer.” STEVENS: “Well, look, I would just say, you had asked me if I'm still on the team, I'm on the team.”

Robert I am interested to know if you think accusations of anti semitism thrown at me over my support for Palestine Action are justified or abuse aimed at silencing a voice raised in support of Palestine?
Replying to @owenjonesjourno
I don’t have to “engage” with antisemitism Owen. I see it all around me. & I see people like you who would never rubbish a report on the prejudice faced by any other minority, going out of your way to do it to Jews because your political agenda demands it. You used to be better.

Robert, in 2019 you rubbished the idea that the FT's editorial board should condemn Boris's Islamophobic comments about Muslim women, just as the paper called Corbyn over Labour's anti-Semitism. Guess there's always been a hierarchy of racism for some
The most disingenuous left line is "no hierarchy of racism". It's used only about antisemitism and actually mean they want it deprioritised below issues they care about more. Jews are only asking so called "anti-racists" for the same concern they rightly demand for others.

This is actually a condescending view of working-class people. I grew up in a working-class immigrant family and we ate at Red Lobster and The Cheesecake Factory for "fancy nights out." But even we understood that the White House should not look like the inside of a Red Lobster. Working-class people are not culturally illiterate just because their experiences are shaped by their limited means.
Does Obama not understand that to most Americans the Cheesecake Factory is a very nice and fancy restaurant?
