Bonfire Night, and it's freezing 🎆 What's your go-to halal comfort food when it's this cold? Hotpot, a lamb curry, a big bowl of noodles? Drop your spot 👇

Of the 62 restaurants I reviewed in 2017, only seven are still open. Anjappar, Drunch, Galvin La Chapelle, Mem & Laz, Tukdin, Vijay's Chawalla and CORE by Clare Smyth. Been to any of them? 👇

A steak in a restaurant can cost you £25 to £40. Here's how I cook halal steak at home: room temperature first, pat it dry, salt only, a hot pan, don't touch it, then baste with butter and garlic. Full method 👇 halalfoodguy.co.uk/how-to-co…

I've stopped ordering pasta in restaurants. I can always make it at home for much cheaper and better. What dish do you refuse to pay restaurant prices for? 👇

Central London has loads of restaurants with halal options. But places where ALL the food is halal and no alcohol is served? Still only around 15, if you leave out Edgware Road. Why do you think it's so few? 👇

Google star ratings tell you a place is popular. Not whether the food is any good. That's why every spot on my map has my own score out of 10, from actually eating there. 266 places across London. Free, no sign-up 👇 halalfoodmap.app

Not your usual Turkish grill 🍲 Esnaf Lokantasi in Enfield is a family-run canteen: grab a tray, head to the counter, pick a main. My lamb shank came with rice, soup, tzatziki, salad, spicy kofte and bread. All food halal, no alcohol. 6.9/10. halalfoodguy.co.uk/esnaf-lok…

Dark by 5pm. It's officially hotpot season 🍲 Muku Hotpot in Walthamstow is fully halal: no pork, no alcohol, HMC meat. £27.99 gets you your own hotpot, a drink and unlimited extras. Proper bone broth, not just water and chillies. halalfoodguy.co.uk/muku-hotp…

Halal Sunday roast roundup 🍖 ✅ Mythéa, Walthamstow: £13.99, maybe London's cheapest ✅ Hour House Bistro: £13 chicken, and it's on every day ✅ Meli-Melo: lamb shank that falls off the bone ❌ Crazy Cow, Barking: the lamb tasted old and stale Where's yours? 👇

Halal breakfast in London, then vs now: When I started blogging, a halal full English or eggs Florentine meant a handful of places. Now you're spoilt for choice, from East to West, North to South. Where are you going for breakfast this morning? 👇

One of the best-looking restaurants on Ilford Lane? 👀 Bagh has two floors with completely different looks, and downstairs seats up to 35 for a family do. The lamb handi (£12.99) was the standout: tender, melt in the mouth. The mixed grill was a bit bland for me. 6.5/10.

Best value lunch in Barking? 🥩 Cristina's lunch menu: steak frites for £11, and most burgers, wraps and curries are £8. I go a lot as a local. Very consistent, and you can park in the Asda car park. Alcohol is served. 8.2/10.

Two restaurants from my very first month of reviews in 2013 are still open today: Abu Zaad, Shepherd's Bush Kervan Sofrasi, Ponders End 13 years in London's restaurant game is no joke. Respect 🫡

2020: a whole chicken meal at Chicos, £12. 2024: a half chicken meal at Chicos, £12. Same price, half the chicken 😅 Still one of my favourite smash burger spots though.
