The year the Angels finally beat Boston is right here, and they did it with a sweep, after the Red Sox had eliminated them in 2004, 2007 and 2008. Three straight first round losses to the same club will make a fourth meeting feel like something other than baseball, and this one broke the other way in three games. The season is impossible to talk about without Nick Adenhart. He threw six shutout innings in his season debut in April and was killed by a drunk driver hours later, at 22 years old. The team hung his jersey in the dugout the rest of the way, and every conversation I have ever had about this roster gets there within a minute or two. The card cannot carry any of that, which is part of why I keep making them anyway. New York won the ALCS in six and then the World Series. It was also Vladimir Guerrero's last season in an Angels uniform. Some cards are harder to build than others.
