ok for real what if Heejae even fixed the pond so fish can live in it? planted the tree like Garam suggested? maybe he even dug the pond out himself?? he wasn't able to fix the relationship, so in desperation and to gain a sense of trying to do ANYTHING, he fixed the pond
imagine Heejae kept the broken piano. maybe not in the same room bc he still needs to practice and play, but kept in somewhere.

reminds me of so many people who only start to fix the things (mentally or physically, or around the house, whatever) their partner asked them to for YEARS until they finally ended the relationship. only then some people try to fix the things even if their exes never found out
ALSO: if he denies his own humanity and needing love, he doesn't have to face the fact that in the past (starting in his childhood) he had the capacity to be loved and was worthy of love but he just didn't receive it.
