everything you NEED to know about threads in less than one minute👇 🤭 it looks and feels the same as Twitter, but with the familiarity of Instagram 💫 it’s a text-based conversation app but you can share links, photos and videos 🧸 there is a limit of 500 characters 🩷 the algorithm isn’t heavy on ranking posts yet, but it does rank posts very lightly and show recommendations in feed, which is “important for a new app before people follow enough accounts” 💬 mark zuckerberg and adam mosseri are * very* active on the platform, listening to feedback and sharing how it works ✍️ not sure what to post on IG vs. Threads? mosseri suggests that it’s more about “public conversations you want to have” and if you don’t want that back and forth, you should probably post on IG ✨ threads will soon have a chronological feed option 🫣 you can deactivate your Threads account, set your profile to private and delete individual threads posts - all without deleting your IG account but it’s important to note that Threads is powered by IG and they’re looking into a way to delete your Threads account separately to IG 🙏 you can hide offensive words/phrases, and hide custom words/phrases 👀 you can limit replies to threads, and the options are ‘anyone’, ‘profiles you follow’ and ‘mentioned only’ 👯‍♀️ soon, support for ActivityPub (the protocol behind the likes of Mastodon), will be integrated into Threads, meaning that if you decide to leave Threads or become de-platformed - you could take your audience with you to another server. 🧿 same community guidelines as IG 💌 DMs might come to Threads but as per mosseri: “for now, we just wanted to keep things simple and avoid adding yet another inbox to people’s phones…” 😋 hashtags, ‘rethreads’ instead of reposts, tag options for pics/videos, search capability, an edit feature and more are on the list of considered developments and that's all for now folks! all of this info can be found on threads and there's probably a whole bunch i missed bc it's so new but it's definitely an exciting development and i, for one, love it 💫💭💜
