One of the most painful things is realizing the person you have given all of your love to, put all of your stock into, isn’t the person you’re going to marry Not only do you have to grieve the love you gave them as it goes sour, you have to grieve the person you thought they were. You have to grieve a future you imagined which you’ll never see, and one which never had any potential of existing no matter what could have gone differently. You have to grieve the family you imagined with them And you just have to live with that, you have to move on from it and start all over again just trusting a new person someday, having all of that same optimism with them instead, after all of that I do not believe this is something which humans are meant to have to deal with, this is a product of modernity. A weighted coin flip with shitty odds that you will face a level of grief which should be saved for the loss of a beloved family member the moment you let some stranger come into your life And you do need to take that chance because you are not meant to live this life alone You move on from it the same way you move on from the loss of one of those loved ones. You pick yourself up where you left off, you continue your life as you were, life goes on But it’s just not normal, not this casually
