Blasphemy is not a crime in a liberal democratic system, like Norway's, for example. Moreover, countries with blasphemy laws tend to have the lowest levels of religious freedom. The Nobel committee has lost its normative compass.

Navi Pillay, Sept. 2012: “Charlie Hebdo is doubly irresponsible to publish these cartoons.” She called the cartoons “malicious and deliberately provocative.” Pillay “fully understands why people wish to protest strongly against the cartoons.”

"Authoritarian regimes learn from each other. They share technology and propaganda systems. Behind Maduro stand Cuba, Russia, Iran, China and Hezbollah – providing weapons, surveillance and economic lifelines. They make the regime more robust, and more brutal."
These were the words of the Chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee on 10 December 2025. The Committee does not seem to think that those authoritarian regimes--or Hezbollah or any other terrorist group for that matter--are as brutal and as cruel this year.
