Got to @AlaskaAir 48 minutes before our flight. 50 minutes is what’s needed to check a bag and apparently that’s a HARD cutoff. They stayed firm. No human moment of course. Wouldn’t help with the existing flight. So now my wife, my 1 year old and I are changed from a direct flight. To a connecting flight, that due to maintenance is delayed and we will miss our connection… so now a non stop flight that would have got in at 3:30pm is a connecting flight, delay, missed connection, and an arrival at 11pm. All because of 2 minutes :( Traveling with a baby is hard. Lesson learned

SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS AIRLINES, BUT I'M DONE. I booked a flight for me, my wife, and our 6 year old. The ticket total was $612. At checkout it asked if we wanted to pick seats. If you skip it, they "assign seats at check in." Which means the three of us could end up in three different rows. Seat selection was $38 per person, each way. $38 x 3 people x 2 flights = $228. My final bill was $840. They're charging families extra just to NOT split up a 6 year old from his parents. THAT'S NOT A SEAT FEE. THAT'S A RANSOM.
