The idiot’s guide to states – and their ‘rights’: 1. States exist. Some 200 of them. 2. States are the political arrangement in which a people express their self-determination. That arrangement can and does change. 3. States enjoy rights, but only against each other. They have the right, for example, not to face unprovoked aggression from another state. 4. No state has some enduring, abstract “right” to exist. Otherwise bad ones like apartheid South Africa would be unreformable. 5. Peoples, by contrast, do have a right to exist. That’s why states that commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide are so gravely violating international law. Because they are violating a people’s right to exist. 6. When people argue Israel has a “right” to exist, they are trying to dupe you into believing international law is fine with apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. It isn’t. For obvious reasons, international law prefers the rights of peoples over those of states. Otherwise, no state could ever be illegitimate. Its rights would trump those of the people it rules over. 7. When someone refuses to agree that Israel has a “right” to exist, they are not being antisemitic, whatever the media keeps telling you. They are upholding international law: the precedence of peoples’ rights over those of states. 8. The claim that Israel has a “right” to exist is not what it seems. It’s really the claim that the current reality of extreme inequality between Israelis and Palestinians be set in stone. It’s the diabolical claim that Israel has a right to commit apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Palestinian people.

.@Palestine_UN Deputy Amb @majedbamya: "Are we to accept that we have no right to defend ourselves, no right to seek protection, no right to pursue justice? That dying is the only right left to us, and if possible, could we do it silently? Who among you would accept these terms for your own people? We have been reasonable beyond reason, but we cannot surrender our humanity, our rights, or our future to the power occupying and oppressing us. That is not how peace is achieved. That is how we go extinct."

In December 1948, Albert Einstein and other Jewish intellectuals warned Americans that Menachem Begin’s party was built on terrorism and fascism. On December 4, 1948, the New York Times published a letter signed by Einstein, Hannah Arendt, Sidney Hook, and more than two dozen others. It was written as Begin, former leader of the Irgun, toured the United States to raise support for his new Freedom Party (Tnuat Haherut / Herut). The letter said the party was “closely akin in its organisation, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties.” It described the Irgun as “a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organisation” and said the movement preached “an admixture of ultra-nationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority.” Terrorism against Jews, Arabs, and the British, the signers wrote, was a means; a “leader state” was the goal. They specifically pointed to the April 1948 attack on Deir Yassin, where Irgun and Lehi forces killed large numbers of Palestinian villagers, as an example of the methods the party carried into politics. The letter urged Americans not to be misled by Begin’s visit or by post-independence talk of freedom and democracy. Begin’s party later became a core of Likud. The warning Einstein signed was not about some fringe faction. It was about the political lineage that still shapes Israeli policy toward Palestinians.

This’s Cuba right now under total blackout after seven months of fuel blockade—Doctors are manually operating ventilators in order to keep babies alive. The United States is now blocking 7,000+ containers of medicine, food, and resources for water and energy from reaching Cuba. The US threatens to freeze assets of entities providing support to Cuba. This is what the US embargo is intended to be. It is a form of collective punishment, a criminal act, and a blatant violation of international law. This violates Article 33 of Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits collective punishment. The US embargo cruelly cut off all fuel and humanitarian aid. Given the dependence of health, food, and water systems on imported fossil fuels, the current oil scarcity has put the availability of essential services at risk nationwide—hurting ordinary people, endangering lives, systems are breaking down, further deepening the socio-economic crisis, and having an increasingly severe impact on the human rights. It is strange how the world can cooperate to get oil through the Iranian blockade at the Strait of Hormuz, but still aren't able to get aid through the U.S. blockade on Cuba. International law is not optional that you invoke only when it suits you. Let's call it what it is: weaponized international law. The U.S. sanctions against Cuba must be lifted immediately. This’s a crime against humanity, and no one is talking about it.

Imagine arguing that you have to have empathy for this guy’s PTSD.
I actually work with Israeli soldiers and families dealing with PTSD, so watching people celebrate this man's breakdown and call it evidence of his “guilt” is particularly vile. His name is Avi Varsano. After more than two years of reserve service, he came home and one night found himself putting on his uniform, helmet and vest at 2 a.m. and scanning his apartment building as though he were still in combat. That's trauma. Your nervous system survived the war and hasn't figured out that you're home yet. He walked hundreds of kilometers to Jerusalem because he wants soldiers who ask for help to actually receive it. PTSD is not a confession to a war crime. And if seeing a traumatized veteran crying makes you laugh rather than recognize another human being in pain, the disturbing thing in this video isn't him. It's you.

Don't let them fool you! Ben Gvis is NOT an outlier Here's Miri Regev, one of Netnayahu's closest Ministers, parading tortured activists like some captured animals Her clip didn't get much attention, so no one in Israel is condemning her Their only problem with Ben Gvir is his video went viral & was bad PR for Israel's "we're the world's biggest victims" narrative! They don't give a darn about him torturing, beating, humiliating, caging women & civilians, as long as the world doesn't see it!
