When we deny our history and pain, our history and pain own us.
When we have the courage to own our stories of pain, fear, and oppression, we can write a new story.
Today we start a new story of unity, inclusivity, democracy, science, and empathy.

Can we get something straight? There's no debate about whether people WANT schools to open. EVERYONE wants schools open this fall. The question's whether it's safe. That other countries can open schools is yet another indictment of this administration's bungling of the pandemic.
Let’s make this happen!

"Lift every voice and sing
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea."

Don't let your academic credentials take you places that your character or competence-level can't keep you. Don't just get a piece of paper; get an education. Don't just look the part; be the part. #integritymatters

LEADERSHIP IS EVERYTHING! Even the "way" you walk down your hallway is leadership...your "swag." Chew on that for a minute.
Look at the goodies we received today! Can’t wait to start working with them in our classroom! Thanks @instituteofplay @NintendoAmerica

Leadership is a function, not a position.
How you influence others IS your leadership. Where is YOUR leadership taking others?
No matter your title, use your leadership to add value to others.
You grow stronger as a leader by helping others reach their goals.

If you want to be your best, then you must be willing to be uncomfortable. Comfort, from my experience, is one of the biggest killers of growth. Once you are comfortable, you lose motivation to keep growing. Keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Try new things.

It’s good when central office administrators remember what it’s like to work in a school. It’s good when school administrators remember what it’s like to be a teacher. And it’s good when teachers remember what it’s like to be a student. #Empathy
