GiggleGigs now at 129 registered job seekers. Mailgun can only do 100 emails a day. I send targeted emails at 8am to job seekers that have uploaded their resumes that show their skills. Amazon SES does 1,000 emails at a few $$ so it's relatively cheap.

Measurement tip: synthetic speed tests tell you how fast your store is from a data center. Real user monitoring tells you how fast it is for actual customers on real phones and real networks. Those numbers differ a lot. Optimize for the second one. vicentereyes.org
Issue that crashes stores at exactly the wrong moment: the cache stampede. A popular cached page expires, and a thousand simultaneous requests all miss and hit the database at once. Lock the regeneration so one request rebuilds it and the rest wait. vicentereyes.org
My old portfolio was a tidy neubrutalist site: thick borders, hard shadows, a dark-mode toggle. It landed me Oatopia, Rev6 and Digital Trek.
So I made it louder, without making it slower. Here’s how 👇

My portfolio got loud. 📢
Rebuilt vicentereyes.org from scratch: bold type, big color, motion everywhere, and real case studies for the work behind it.
Django + React + Shopify builds that SLAP. Go poke around 👇

Ops prep worth an afternoon: rehearse the order handoff. How do orders get from your store to whoever packs them, at ten times normal volume? Batch exports, printed labels, pick lists, a cutoff time per day. Selling fast is only good if you can ship. vicentereyes.org
Officially BIR-registered as a self-employed professional. 🇵🇭 Seal's up on my site.
PH clients: official BIR invoices + proper withholding/2307s.

Performance tip for product pages: render on the server. Client-rendered pages make the browser fetch a shell, then JavaScript, then data, before anything useful appears. Server-rendered HTML arrives ready to read — faster for users, better for search. vicentereyes.org
Found a spotify client that runs in the terminal. Very light resource usage. Good for my laptop that just runs on 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD and an i5 processor!
Issue that kills international orders: surprise costs at delivery. A customer abroad buys, then gets hit with duties they never saw at checkout. They refuse the parcel, you eat shipping both ways, and you've made an enemy. Show landed cost up front. vicentereyes.org
Support prep that saves peak week: write your answers before the questions arrive. Macros for the ten questions you'll get a hundred times, a sharp FAQ page, and a triage rule for what gets escalated. Volume is survivable; improvising every reply isn't. vicentereyes.org
1/ I built a job board because I was tired of checking 9 tabs every morning for freelance gigs.GiggleGigs pulls dev, design, VA, social media and admin gigs into one feed. Free for freelancers gigglegigs.com 🧵
3/ Built with Django + PostgreSQL + Celery, running scrapers on a schedule. Happy to write up the ingestion pipeline if people want it.

Freeze doesn't mean never ship. It means ship carefully. For the one critical fix you must deploy before peak: roll it out to a small slice of traffic first, watch the metrics, then widen. A canary catches your mistake at 5% instead of 100%. vicentereyes.org
