“Cognac has more depth, a different spice profile and a richer mouthfeel when substituted for gin in cocktails, and a lighter, aromatic softness when used in place of whisky,” says Normandie’s Judson Winquist. Visit CognacClassicCrawl.com to learn more. Photo: @highproofpreach

Not all drinks have a front and back, but some do & the front should face the guest.

Craft is key with our whiskey but when a bar tender crafts a delicious old fashioned cocktail with Lambay Whiskey, we are impressed! 👌🥃 Pic @highproofpreacher

When celebrity agave spirits brands make the product all about themselves and not the people who make it, they're silencing and obscuring the culture they claim to be celebrating.

Starting to think batch drinks are going to be the thing that ends this cycle of cocktail culture. They undermine the pricing rationale, which is already shaky.

Made a Martini for neighbor. Squeeze of lemon zest. “Oh!” he exclaimed. “THAT’S why you do that. I’ve never seen that oil on the surface. I just drop lemon slices into my drinks. This is amazing.“ A reminder that some of the most basic cocktail moves remain a mystery to many.

Me: What do wish would disappear from drinks culture? Bartender: I would like for writers to stop asking me what is the next trend I see in five years. (no, I'm not taking this personally....no, not at all 🤣)

This is a big deal. I’ve visited numerous cooperages & see very few women working there - and never in jobs making the barrels. In Cognac it was described as a job passed “from father to son.”
Two women have been accepted as coopering apprentices by drinks giant Diageo for the first time. The women, who are part of a group of 16 new apprentices, will be taught the ancient craft of creating oak casks for whisky ... bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-tay…

Have you ever “thrown” a cocktail? We don’t mean picking up a drink & throwing it across the bar (hopefully you’ve never done that!!) Throwing a cocktail is a method of chilling & aerating a drink without diluting it too much. Our friend Robbie here is pretty amazing at it!
this 1926 story written by a bootlegger has to be the most heartwarming bootlegger story ever written newyorker.com/magazine/1926/…

Its funny how so many people think that the key to a great bar is fancy ice and a 100 bitters, when its actually more like Windex and a little bit of elbow grease.
