Dash is probably the fastest, most secure way to send fully-private shielded payments based on Zcash's privacy tech.
I'm obviously a fan of Zcash, but let's be honest, speed and security are some of the biggest weak spots.
For years I've enjoyed the Dash experience of "in 1 second it's permanently irreversible." It's a major competitive advantage.
With Zcash, waiting ~25 seconds (after the new faster blocks are approved) to get some kind of security, then many minutes (at least) to be reasonably (but never fully) sure the transaction is finalized, isn't optimal.
And, having to worry about mining pool centralization (which was a big problem just recently) isn't optimal either. Both of those are what mainly keep me using Dash right now.
Crosslink looks to be a good step towards closing this gap.
If not Crosslink, another solution to get finality in Zcash much, much faster than we have right now should be proposed. "Nah it's fine now" isn't an option IMHO.

great recap from @hilawe on the oct 13 DCG update.
@Dashpay continues to show great dev work and innovation
the part i'm interested the most:
token shielded pools are finished for evolution 5.0.
what that means:
tokens issued on dash platform (stablecoins, app credits, etc.) can now move through orchard shielded pools the same way DASH credits have since evo 4.0.
sender, recipient, and amounts stay hidden behind zcash's halo 2 zero-knowledge proofs. fast finality, no trusted setup. separate pools per token, as the team has described.
i covered the orchard integration in my Dash Orchard piece (linked in the comments) and compared the asset-privacy approaches (including dash’s separate pools) in the more recent Zano Confidential Assets article.
looking forward to seeing shielded assets on mainnet.
privacy is the norm. 🛡️

Very excited about this!
The next Dash Evolution update will have DSAs (Dash Shielded Assets), essentially a high-powered version of what Zcash Shielded Assets were meant to be.
ZSAs may not happen anytime soon, so this will be the very first token implementation using Zcash's world-class privacy tech.
Lots of important updates in the next Evolution version, but two major ones to flag:
📱 Yappr, the upcoming social media app built on Dash, is getting its own mobile app
🛡 Shielded token support is coming, so users will be able to benefit from top of the line privacy for tokens such as stablecoins and more!

"With Core v24 on mainnet: several people can own one regular masternode together without trusting a custodian, and owner rewards can go to several addresses. Shared EvoNodes need a later, separate activation." 👀

At Monerotopia in Mexico City, Joel got a message from Dash’s lead developer:
“I’ve been working on this all week. I just got Orchard transactions working on Dash.”
After five months of hard work, we launched it. 🔒

Dash has the best privacy tech in the business, but if you use it wrong, you could be at risk.
This explains how to properly use Dash's shielded transactions.
Cheat sheet: shielded-to-shielded is best. A "shielding sandwich" (transparent to shielded, then out to transparent again) is the weakest.
As always, there's a lot of misinformation around privacy circulating around.
Let me break down why "pass-through privacy" fails, and how even cryptos without a transparent pool end up having one in practice (with all its privacy pitfalls).
Enjoy the FUD-buster.

One by one I'm replacing every single technological and financial use case in my own life with sovereign technology.
Some is local FOSS stuff, some is other blockchains, some is just trust-minimized/private centralized tech. But I'm moving everything in the right direction.
Dash is ~80% of my financial use cases (95% of my money/payments), but it's starting to creep into my non-financial apps as well.
And yes, I'm building some myself now. 😎
The goal is that within one year I can point people to a single sovereign stack where they can essentially shed dependence on centralized money and data without having to self-host everything and keep all their data local.
