I think this is a genius thing, and especially useful now. @DogsTrust have added a Sound Blanket to their website (link below), developed in collaboration with @SalfordUni. It uses acoustic science to mask the bangs of #fireworks and may calm dogs down. dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/…

There is a reason that tax is done once a year. Over a year, you can provide for it. It's difficult, and sometimes you have to make hard decisions. But making freelancers pay tax monthly when they have zero income that month is insane!

What an extraordinary statement. Apparently, according to Labour, employers aren't working people. Tell that to the small business owners working 60-hour weeks, risking their savings, paying their staff and keeping their businesses afloat. Labour can play with definitions and indulge in endless whataboutery, but it cannot escape the consequences of its decisions. Taxing employers affects jobs, wages and the very people Labour claims to protect.

From 2029 the self-employed pay last year's tax and this year's in the same twelve months. The OBR puts the overlap at £17bn of extra cash from this cohort in one year. Same tax, just all at once.
Self employed to face new cash flow burdens as Chancellor plans to take their tax in advance every month bit.ly/4yMr6hn so much for cutting unnecessary form filling!

The problem with all Pride and Prejudice adaptations is that Colin Firth was quite possibly the most attractive man on the planet as Mr. Darcy.

❤️ My beautiful boy deserves to be remembered with love, not hate. Yesterday, a Coventry fan used a photograph of Bradley to taunt Sunderland supporters. As his mam, this breaks my heart. Behind that photo is a little boy who was loved beyond measure (pt 1)

Everyone remembers the legendary Wembley performance, but the real magic was captured here. During this rehearsal, George Michael already knew his partner was living with HIV, yet he sang with every ounce of emotion in his heart. Look closely at David Bowie in the background—he knew he was witnessing something truly unforgettable. This is what a real star looks like. ✨

In 1993 I filled my first bottles of shaving oil at a kitchen sink. I had no idea who would end up carrying them. I made the bottles small. 10ml, a few drops, enough for a shave. That was the thinking. This week a man called Lee @walford_lee replied to one of my posts. He told me he used the oil in the army. His exercises lasted anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks. The small bottles were easy to pack, so the oil went in the kit. He isn't the only one. Over the years, servicemen have told me the same thing again and again. Thousands of them. And then the second part, which I never saw coming. When the bottle was empty, many told me they didn't bin it. They filled it with gun oil. A shaving oil bottle in a kit bag, doing a second job I never designed it for. I made a small bottle for a man's face. The army found a use for it that I'd never have thought of. Thank you, Lee. And thank you to every one of you who carried one. @KingofShaves available at shave.com
