The Kerala High Court has stayed the arrest of an Additional Sessions Judge whose 17-year-old son was involved in the Cheranalloor car accident that resulted in the death of a person named Jayakrishnan. During the hearing of the judge's anticipatory bail plea, the High Court questioned the necessity of his arrest, noting that he is a judicial officer and has already cooperated with the investigation and appeared for questioning.
The court directed him to fully cooperate with the ongoing probe and present himself before the investigating officer. Emphasizing that judicial decisions cannot yield to public perception or pressure, the court stated that the detailed arguments on the bail plea will continue later.

Jayabalakrishnan closed his tea shop.
He was returning home.
Perhaps dreaming of tomorrow.
Tomorrow never came.
A speeding Mercedes-Benz, alledgdly driven by a 17-year-old, struck his scooter from behind.
He died.
But the story didn't end there.
The boy's father was a judge.
Not just any judge.
An Additional District Judge, serving at the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal.
The very institution meant to compensate accident victims.
And his unlicensed teenage son was allegedly driving his Mercedes!
Did the father know?
Who gave the boy the keys?
Questions demanding answers.
The teenager was initially released.
Later, he secured juvenile bail.
And what about the father?
A guardian of the very law his family now stands accused
of violating?
Then came a daughter.

She didn't burn a bus.
She didn't attack the police.
She didn't vandalise a street.
She stood there.
Like a rock.
Demanding justice for her father.
Her voice shook the silence.
Serious charges followed.
The judge was booked.

As a neurosurgeon, let me tell you how frightening this injury actually is - an occipital compound depressed skull fracture treated with a WIDE craniotomy (outer staple line).
What's scary isn't the fracture; it's what's adjacent to the damaged skull. The axe blows (that tree-branch scar at the center) hit right over the posterior superior sagittal sinus, a large vein that runs lengthwise between the 2 cerebral hemispheres and carries blood from the brain to the heart.
Penetrating injuries to the sinus can carry upwards of a 40% morbidity/mortality - partially because a transection of the sinus can be difficult to repair and can result in extreme blood loss, venous air embolism, or thrombosis - all of which can be fatal.
There's scary, and then there's the "you go to elevate the fracture and risk unroofing the sinus, losing 2 liters of blood in a minute" scary.
The surgeons likely had their hands full and did an amazing job. Divine providence called many heroes into service that day. Damn fine work.

रंगा सियार की एक खास बात होती है। वो झुंड से अलग नजर आता है। लेकिन, बारिश का पानी पड़ते ही उसकी असलियत सामने आ जाती है कि अरे ये तो हुंवा-हुंवा करने वाला सियार ही है।
ऐसे ही दो रंगे सियार हैं बॉलीवुड में... मनोज मुंतशिर और कुमार विश्वास। एक जमाने में ये दोनों परम-सेक्युलर हुआ करते थे। मनोज ने तो शुक्ला हटाकर मुंतशिर लगा दिया था। विश्वास साहब भी गंगा-जमुनी तहजीब पर लाजवाब बातें करते थे।
दरअसल, उस समय सेक्युलरिज्म की बातें करना बौद्धिक होने की निशानी माना जाता था। वक्त बदला, हालत बदले। कट्टर राष्ट्रवाद दिखने की आंधी आई। उसी में बहकर ये दोनों भी छद्म राष्ट्रवादी सियार बन गए। कट्टर हिंदू टाइप की बातें करने लगे।
लेकिन जब दोनों को हिंदू परंपरा से जुड़ा कुछ अच्छा करने का मौका मिला, तो दोनों ने ही गोबर किया। मनोज मुंतशिर ने आदिपुरुष में ऐसे-ऐसे संवाद लिखे कि सुनते ही कान से एकदम खून ही निकलने लगे। आप भी एक फिर मुल्तिजा फरमाइए।
हनुमान का लंका दहन के वक्त मेघनाद से कहना, 'तेल तेरे बाप का! कपड़ा तेरे बाप का! और जलेगी भी तेरे बाप की!' लंका पहुंचाते ही हनुमान का स्वागत राक्षस ये बोलकर करता है, 'ये लंका क्या तेरी बुआ का बगीचा है, जो हवा खाने चला आया।' या फिर 'मेरे एक सपोले ने तुम्हारे शेषनाग को लंबा कर दिया, अभी तो पूरा पिटारा भरा पड़ा है।' और 'आप अपने काल के लिए कालीन बिछा रहे हैं।'
कुमार विश्वास को इससे भी बड़ा मौका मिला। रणवीर कपूर वाली 4000 करोड़ की रामायण के गाने लिखने की। भाई साहब ने एकदम से कव्वाली लिख मारी है। बस बीच-बीच में कहीं मंगल, बांसुरी और रागिनी टाइप के शब्द डाल दिए हैं। ताकि सुनने वाले को भरम रहे कि नहीं भाई ये कव्वाली नहीं है, रामायण का गीत है।
इन दोनों रंगे सियारों में टैलेंट नाम की चीज नहीं है। मनोज मुंतशिर तो पुराना चोर है। अंग्रेजी कवियों से लेकर पाकिस्तानियों तक के गाने चुरा के बैठा है। और कुमार विश्वास साहब के मुंह से 'कोई दीवाना कहता है, कोई पागल समझता है' के बाद कुछ निकला ही नहीं है। आज भी कविता के नाम पर यही चार लाइनें सुनाते मिल जाएंगे।
रामायण की कहानी हर किसी को पता है। आप उसमें कुछ बदल नहीं सकते। लेकिन गानों में बहुत अच्छा कर सकते हैं। और ऐसा नहीं है कि किया नहीं गया है। रामानंद सागर वाली रामायण में रवींद्र जैन के गीत और संगीत आज भी सीधे दिल में उतर जाते हैं। उसके बाद भी कई रामायण बनी, गाने सब में लगभग ठीक ठाक ही थे। कम से कम इतने बुरे तो नहीं थे, जितने कवि कुमार विश्वास ने लिखे हैं।
यही होता है, जब रंगा सियार बनकर आप अपनी पहचान छिपाने की कोशिश करते हैं। ज्यादा होशियार बनने की कोशिश करते हैं। लेकिन, एक हल्की बारिश का झोंका आता है और आपका असली रंग सामने आ जाता है।

A Class 10 student from Coimbatore left the multi-talented Dr. Anand Ranganathan—writer, political commentator and scientist—stunned with his pointed questions.
At a literary event organised today by the Verandah Club, in a gathering filled with elders and intellectuals, the young boy courageously took the microphone and began asking questions in English. His questions were:
🚩 If, as you say, the government has brought temples under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, why has it left mosques and churches outside such government control?
🚩 Isn't it because the moment the government attempts to take over a church, large groups of people would gather and protest?
🚩 In my own hometown of Coimbatore, the accused Bashaa, who was involved in the 1998 bomb blasts, was given a large funeral procession. The government did not stop it.
🚩 When all these things are viewed together, CJP—which I personally dislike and completely oppose—has nevertheless acquired the courage to challenge a government that has been in power for 12 years.
🚩 We, the majority community, are opposed to all this. If nearly 80% of the people oppose it, why are we reluctant to come out onto the streets?
🚩 Right before our eyes, atrocities and injustices against our people are taking place.

🚩 After regaining his composure, he said that he himself doubted whether he could have asked such questions at that age.
But, he said, this gathering must provide answers to the questions raised by the young boy.
