idk i just think it depends. there are still many pokemon today that purposefully dont have stat aligned STAB moves. if every single choice under the split was intentional, they couldve just not given absol night slash in gen 4. its not like a different set of devs made DPPT.

Learnsets are somewhat valid but I’m a full-on physical/special split hater these days. The idea that Pokemon can only be well designed if they’re firing STAB attacks off of their biggest attacking stat is stupid

i cant really entertain the idea that the split broke a bunch of pokemon when a) pokemon like gengar are still strong and couldve just gained new moves if they werent broken before the split b) for every gengar there are two pokemon that were unuseable before the split

like is it about game balance or are you still not over your favourite pokemon losing the elemental punches 20+ years ago because if those pokemon were fair with the punches, they wouldve got the elemental beams in gen 4 and plenty of pokemon still use all 3 punches today!

i never understood this obsession with symmetry from pokemon fans. why is it considered a crime for some types to be less represented than others? why can’t it possibly be that the lack of electrics make winona and water bosses require more creative strategies and teambuilding?

sinnoh having 2 fire types isnt added difficulty, its poor planning. fire types obv dont trivialise sinnoh because 1 in 3 players pick the fire type starter they should have (and did, later) added ore fire types 2/3 players (and flint) could have more options than just rapidash

Hot take that will satisfy nobody: Video games are categorically not art. The extremely limited pool of games people cite to disprove this is a collection of exceptions which prove the rule. Games are toys and there's nothing wrong with that.
