This recent CNN report gives a good sense of the mood in the #HongKong LGBTQ community. HKers' attitude toward LGBTQ had become increasingly accepting while the gov't's become more intolerant of LGBTQ in the public sphere. Tyranny demands conformity.

The research examines Hong Kong's role as the global hub for Iran and Russia to obtain Western finance, technology, and weapons components needed to sustain their military operations and evade United States and international sanctions and export controls.
Report author @jonstivers, CFHK Foundation U.S. director, said, "This week, top U.S. Treasury Department officials will hold talks at the APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in Hong Kong, the world’s capital of sanctions evasion for Iran and Russia.
"Since taking office, Secretary Bessent (@SecScottBessent) has played an ineffective game of whack-a-mole, sanctioning Hong Kong shell companies only to watch them reappear under new names within days.
"Secretary Bessent needs to get serious: impose secondary sanctions on the Hong Kong banks financing this trade and designate Hong Kong a Primary Money Laundering Concern.
"Only actions on that scale will disrupt the financing and facilitation that sustain the world’s most ruthless and deadly regimes."

Today (Oct 9) at 12:39pm UK time, the freejoshuawong.uk website was hit by an automated cyberattack for >5 hours: attackers tried to crack the webmaster login 39,000 times. They failed. Website is operating normally but comments are temporarily disabled. @HKers_in_Leeds
Wong On-yin plead not guilty to #sedition & "obstructing a national security investigation" (by divulging his own interrogation). He was arrested in Dec '25 after the Wang Fuk Court fire in a clampdown on #FreeSpeech re the fire's causes.
A national security police officer testified that Wong intended to hold a press conference "to incite internal conflict & attempt to endanger national security," so he was interrogated & told to keep it confidential, but he didn't. He's the 1st to be prosecuted for this "crime."
