As Halloween approaches, it's important to ensure every child can participate in #TrickOrTreating by organizing a station that is #accessible to all. Discover tips from @TreatAccessibly on making trick-or-treating accessible & #inclusive for your community:buff.ly/KHKOOQF
Human Space was proud to support @GBCFdn’s #FoodCourtSocial! Bringing together Toronto’s culinary talent, the event raised funds to support @GBPolytech’s Augmented Education Program, which helps reduce barriers to education & employment. Explore highlights from the evening below!
Human Space was pleased to welcome @ONgov’s Accessibility Infrastructure Secretariat to our Toronto studio, where we shared some of our work and learned about the initiatives their team is leading to advance #accessibility across Ontario. We’re grateful for the chance to connect!
In Part 2 of our Beyond the Ramp blog series, we explore why the next phase of #InclusiveDesign must move from station access to inclusive journeys, looking at transit, public realm & master planning across Singapore and Malaysia. Read the full piece here: buff.ly/jbCN8jh
Human Space’s Accessibility and Wellness Lead, Lorene Casiez, recently participated in the ‘Building an #Accessible and Liveable Toronto Waterfront’ roundtable, held on behalf of the Accelerating Accessibility Coalition and MP Chi Nguyen (Spadina-Harbourfront).
The discussion brought together industry and community leaders to share perspectives on ways to improve #accessibility, community connection, health and multi-generational liveability across #Toronto’s vibrant waterfront.
Insights and recommendations from the session will help inform federal policy in areas such as housing, senior care, community programming & public infrastructure. We're pleased to have contributed alongside @TheDanielsCorp, @NorthcrestDev, @UHN’s KITE Research Institute & @CNIB!
October is #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth, an opportunity to recognize the importance of #DisabilityInclusion in the #workplace. It’s important we continue breaking down barriers and create #inclusive environments where everyone can participate! More: buff.ly/S8UfJmO
As part of our ongoing learning series, the Human Space team recently attended @TorontoMet’s Pwaaganigaawin / Pow Wow — a gathering that brought community together through ceremony, drumming, dance, food and art.
We’re grateful to have been present and to continue learning through opportunities to listen, reflect and engage with #Indigenous communities, cultures and perspectives. Thank you for having us, Toronto Metropolitan University! #Design #InclusiveDesign
Get to know Shashank Achanthodi, Inclusive Design Specialist at Human Space! Shashank believes good #design begins with understanding people, places and the everyday experiences that shape how communities move through and use their cities.
With experience across #architecture, urban design, street design, urban mobility and public realm projects, Shashank brings a broad perspective on how design can support vibrant, #inclusive cities.
His work is informed by design psychology, #InclusiveDesign and the belief that successful places respond not only to what’s visible but also to the social, cultural and behavioural factors shaping how people experience them. Read more about Shashank here:buff.ly/jCrMNIS.
As we celebrate the International Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) and the International Week of Deaf People (IWDP), it is important to recognize the ongoing work required to foster a culture of #inclusion, including in meetings and public-facing engagements.
As a helpful resource, we’re pleased to share @ESDC_GC’s Guide to Planning Inclusive Meetings, which includes tips & advice on planning meetings in a way that allows people with disabilities to engage & participate, and considerations for working with sign language interpreters.
Let’s continue working together to create inclusive environments where everyone can contribute and thrive!

As Toronto comes together for #TIFF26, it’s important to consider #accessibility at public events so everyone can participate and enjoy the experience. @TIFF_NET has taken steps to support this, offering accessibility features and accommodations across its venues and screenings.
This year’s festival also features Being Heumann, a film about disability rights activist Judy Heumann, the "Mother of the Disability Rights Movement". Her work helped advance the rights of people with disabilities and remains relevant to conversations around accessibility today.
