?? Gon is still nen-less in the manga idk what lack of consequences you’re referring too, him just being on whale island and suppressing his desires are clear direct consequences
Big 3 does this. A bunch of things do this. Gon also just pops back from all consequences like Killia made a wish to Cosmo and Wanda. Togashi is goated for reasons other than sheer novelty.

look at how hisoka killed them 😭😭 he decapitated kortopi and threw his head into shalnark’s hands to occupy his grip/overload his brain before blitzing his blindspot. he literally used chrollo’s own strategy against them. nasty work 💔💔

and then strung shalnark up like a puppet just to psychologically torture chrollo 😭😭 mocking his entire arena strategy by leaving his friend posed like a marionette doll 💔💔💔💔💔💔

the irony of chrollo lecturing hisoka on post mortem nen is that chrollo genuinely thought he knew the full scope of it. to him, it’s born from tragedy and grudges (kurapika, meteor city elder). it didn’t even cross his mind that hisokas love for fighting was strong enough for it

hisoka’s ego death is his most important character arc shift. he went to heaven’s arena treating combat like a game, let chrollo prepare for the thrill of the fight. him rejecting machi’s stitches here to make his own prosthetics feels like him abandoning the idea of playing fair

the fact that machi stayed behind to stitch up hisoka’s corpse out of genuine gratitude for helping exorcise chrollo 🥲her empathy separates her from the other two, and accidentally spared her life while condemning her friends to get ambushed outside with no backup

again with the stage play motif. chrollo switches between playing the lead actor and directing the fight, using black voice to give his puppets stage directions and then smiling from the stands as his script plays out exactly how he planned

chrollo deliberately taking damage and pretending to stagger just to plant a bomb seal, because even his movements during a fight are part of the performance

looking back, togashi was lowkey laying the groundwork for the pt backstory and their relationship with theatre. hisoka really got outplayed by a theatre kid 💔💔

using shalnark’s black voice just to make an explosive puppet squat in the exact spot where hisoka would instinctively grab it as a weapon is actually so insane 😭😭

the tonal whiplash from these chapters to the author comments is hilarious 😭😭

the fact that chrollo didn’t even lie to him and just banked on hisoka knowing the rules of nen so well that he would naturally assume a false limitation. he weaponized hisoka’s own intelligence against him 😭😭

am I crazy for thinking someone more simple minded (like an enhancer) would actually fare better against this specific strategy? chrollo’s entire trap relies on the opponent overthinking the logic puzzle. a meathead would just ignore it completely

I don’t care if he lost this fight, I never wanna see hisoka disrespect again. who else in hxh gets put in this situation and still has the battle iq to manipulate the exact conditions to force their opponent's attacks down a specific path?

you guys are only looking at the outcome at the end of the chapter (chrollo switching with a fake). hisoka getting outsmarted by a loophole doesn’t erase him bottlenecking chrollo’s abilities at THIS moment
