On 12 Oct, cyberattacks targeting supermarket refrigeration systems were reported in France.
The very next day, Finland's cybersecurity authorities identified 30 vulnerable devices and contacted their owners to help secure them.
When pro-Russian hackers launched a new wave of attacks across Europe weeks later, Finland suffered significantly less damage than many other countries.
This is what resilience looks like: anticipating threats, acting early and limiting the damage before it happens.

A Finnish court has sentenced the Russian captain and Azerbaijani boatswain of the cargo ship Fitburg to prison for damaging undersea cables in the Gulf of Finland.
Captain Andrei Maksimenko received 3 years and 6 months, while boatswain Vusal Majidov was sentenced to 2 years and 10 months.
According to prosecutors, the vessel dragged its anchor along the seabed for 130 kilometres, damaging two telecommunications cables and endangering critical infrastructure.
Both men were ordered into immediate custody and must pay compensation for the damage.
Finally, some accountability for attacks on Europe's critical infrastructure.

Elon Musk claims that Ukraine allegedly violated Starlink's terms of use and used the system on combat drones.
As someone who was inside the process at the Ministry of Defense, I can say with certainty that this is not true.
In February of this year, whitelists were introduced. Stationary terminals could be registered by both military personnel and civilians.
But for any satellite terminal to work while on the move, it had to be added to a special list and connected to the military Starshield system. Otherwise, no satellite communication terminals in Ukraine would work.
In other words, using civilian Starlink for drone missions was technically impossible. All drone missions that required satellite communication could only be carried out using Starshield.
We are very grateful to the United States and SpaceX for access to critically important satellite communications. Ukraine did not violate the terms of use.

Exactly this. Whenever Moscow conquers a country, it is impoverished, polluted and destroyed. This is what happened to Estonia's economy (compared to Finland) during the Soviet Occupation. Estonia was wealthier than Finland in 1938, the Soviet occupation (1944-1991) turned it 10 times poorer. Since freedom from the Russians was achieved, it's back on track.

The @StateDept's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (@StateINL ) funded the transfer. The @CBP agency is implementing the program.
