Last week a horrendous video emerged which showed a Greek Coast guard forcibly pushing back a group of asylum seekers, including a baby, and leaving them stranded in the middle of the sea.

This (now deleted) Home Office tweet is not only most honest thing that they’ve said but also the best idea that they’ve come up with in many years.

For the love of humanity, these are people… people like you or I, whose only “crime” was being born in a place that became uninhabitable through no fault of their own. Stop treating desperate and vulnerable people like criminals for needing our help! They have suffered enough…
BREAKING: The government is expected announce plans to move all migrants and asylum seekers out of hotels and in to military bases and potentially disused ferries

For the trolls who say “how do you stop England from being over-run with asylum seekers?”, which is clear nonsense, I’d say offer safe routes and application methods to asylum seekers from all war torn countries, put money into faster processing and create job and social training schemes for them to enable easier integration. End the ludicrous and evil hostile environment policy… Finance it all from the billions made by Tory mates during the pandemic. There you go. Happy now, racists?

You can listen today at 1.10 @BBCRadio4 or on @BBCSounds So heartening to have the audience applauding so strongly in support of refugees
Listen back to our CEO @EnverSol on Any Questions here. A key topic discussed was the new asylum Bill, and Enver pointed out that most of the people in small boats are men, women and children escaping terror and persecution from countries like Afghanistan, Iran and Syria.
