After covering BU men’s hockey for the last two seasons, I wanted to take a step back and make sense of last year.
Here’s what I think happened and why a team with national championship expectations fell short.
For @BOShockeyblog 👇
A national title game appearance. Nineteen NHL draft picks. Sky-high expectations. A .500 finish.
What went wrong with the 2025-26 Terriers?
@htconnors gives her best guess.

College hockey is changing fast, but BU spent the last year gathering information instead of rushing into revenue sharing.
I explored why the Terriers waited to opt into the House settlement and what comes next for the program.
For @BOShockeyblog 👇
BU spent a year window shopping while much of college athletics embraced revenue sharing.
Now, the Terriers are in.

"He works. He makes plays. He does everything right," Pandolfo said of Tynan Lawrence.
Lawrence (#stlblues ) is the youngest player at BU and currently leads the team with 7 goals and 3 assists through 8 games played.

A mid-game read.....
I've gotten more text about the first five minutes of the men's game than I did the entire year last year covering hockey.
BU saw 10 different Terriers score 10 goals in last week's series against UConn.
Now, it's hoping to build on this scoring momentum in its series against Maine.

Takeaways from last night’s game.
Always grateful to my parents for letting me borrow their car to cover hockey☺️
The fastest period of hockey BU has faced this season.
BU had slightly more high caliper offensive chances than UConn, but UConn exposed and capitalized on the Terriers defensive mistakes.
More on the penalty:
Prior to the starting lineup announcement, Roukounakis and Yegorov skated on the ice before the officials went out. This happened after warmups.
BU will start on the PK due to Yegorov and Roukounakis's early entry on the ice.
