patient 'ownership' of data is such a glib statement though @EricTopol, we've lived through that failure. so what principles should we aspire to in that case?

I agree with Cancer mum. We have to keep raising the subject so that pts know what should be available and how to ask for it. We are also hoping to help practices understand what info pts need to be able to manage their health better and keep safe. – at Manchester, England

Really sorry to read about your clinical experience. Found myself agreeing with your observations, real need to be user led & defined. I use a patient portal, would love to feedback & improve it. Currently it doesn’t do 1/2 the things it could, information being shared so limited

Yes, it's very sad that some medics see it as a threat. I think there is a big lack of understanding of how patients can use their info to better manage their health, contribute to decision making and be less dependant on the practice or other agencies. – at Manchester, England

This is a great achievement and the benefits need to be more widely publicised. Many medics see it as a threat not an opportunity.
