here's @signulll wondering what iMessage could become (teapawt.net/signulll/status/211547…) - I'm imagining something like WeChat Mini Programs that are multi-user by default. The UI could live within a messenger chat thread, or maybe *within each user's AI chat thread*
you know if you really think about it apple may have accidentally stumbled upon a huge new business with imessage agents.
imessage is a potentially huge ai platform opportunity for apple in some sense (assuming this behavior actually works in the long term which is still a big non trivial if).
imessage apps mostly didn't hit, but imagine a store of agents that apple curates & allows? imagine the api's apple could facilitate here. accessing health through imessage agent securely & safely? no problem. accessing contacts? no problem. accessing location in an agent friendly way? no problem. payments for agents? no problem. subscription payment for using agents? no problem.
imessage agents could be the new app store if you will for discovery & access for both developers & users, just like the original app store. if jobs were alive, you can kind of picture the keynote for this. lots of implications/nuances for both iphone & apple's overall business but obviously very fun to think about.
this should be a topic of discussion for apple leadership if not already. there is a giant moat here for apple that it can uniquely make work.

New talk! About the divided human & agent worlds, boundary objects, and building thicker interfaces
I've been exploring how to improve "planning", aka. deciding what agents should build, how you want it built, & making the whole team part of that process

I poked around Twitter and GitHub to find some of the contest entries. It shows there's a *lot* of good work happening around the agentic software development process: how to get large numbers of agents to work together, how to optimize parts of the process (PR, tests, etc)

entire AGENTS.md now: “communicate in E-Prime plain language”

`dap` is the latest in this series, and I think it has the potential to be interesting:

I'm continuing to build out "fold over a sequenced log" experiments, because they're a really nice foundation for applications where the users are people and agents.
Here are four infrastructure variants so far.
The sequencer isn't "global". Next experiment may incorporate the interesting "CTEG" work by Simon Foldvik - I think by tracking causal dependencies (as gitseq does) we can efficiently implement cross-partition transactions.

And this category of "situational apps": I think it's a natural evolution of sunilpai.dev/posts/one-docum….
Unlike "multi-sided platforms" (ebay, uber, doordash...) where the situation is repeatable: so many of our daily interactions are multi-sided but *unique*. Agents can help!
