More than 2,000 beagles in US labs will be forced to ingest pesticides for 90 days & then be killed if the @EPA fails to eliminate the 90-day dog test within the next five years. 🐶💔

If animal-free methods exist, why are animals still used in testing?
The harsh truth is that we don't have an animal-free method for every single test yet. And when non-animal methods are avail, outdated regs, funding priorities & established practices can hold back their use.

WE DID IT! Yesterday, the Beagle Bill was signed into law by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro!
Pennsylvania is now the 13th state to prohibit the sale of animal-tested cosmetics and the 18th state to give dogs and cats the opportunity to be adopted after the experiments have ended.

WE DID IT! 🎉 The Beagle Bill is now law! 🐶
This victory for animals in laboratories would not have been possible without our incredible supporters in PA and the tireless state legislators who championed the bill, including our sponsors @SenMastriano and @SenatorComitta! 👏🏽
Our team had the privilege of visiting the @EU_JRC—one of the world's leading centres for developing & validating animal-free methods.
From organs-on-a-chip to advanced automation, it was inspiring to see the innovative tech driving the transition away from animal testing.
A big thank you to the @EU_JRC team for the warm welcome and engaging discussions about our shared goal of advancing non-animal methods.
Seeing these technologies in action was a powerful reminder that the future of science is already here...and it’s animal-free! 🔬💙

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has unanimously passed the beagle bill, which would ban the sale of new animal-tested cosmetics and create pathways for former research dogs and cats to find homes.
“The future of science is prioritizing those non-animal alternatives,” says @humaneworldorg.
The face of the Beagle Bill, Phoebe, was one of about 4,000 beagles Humane World for Animals rescued from a Virginia breeding facility in 2022.

🧫🧪 Animal-free safety testing is the future—and for good reason! Non-animal methods are often superior to animal tests:
➡️ More predictive of human responses to chemicals
➡️ Faster, more efficient
➡️ Deliver more reliable, reproducible data
➡️ Eliminate animal suffering
BREAKING: Thanks to YOUR calls and emails, the Beagle Bill has finally passed the Pennsylvania House—unanimously! 🥳
The bill would prohibit the sale of animal-tested cosmetics & give dogs & cats an opportunity to be adopted into loving homes after the experiments are over! 🐾
From fragrances to painkillers to clothing fabric dyes, every new chemical has at one time been tested on animals.
We're working with companies & governments to replace cruel & obsolete chemical toxicity tests with animal-free methods that better protect human & enviro safety.
Last year, JD Jiggles & Socorro finally met face to face —and instantly hit it off with an adorable play session! 💕
After decades in a laboratory, these two have been able to experience so many “firsts” at @ChimpHaven sanctuary—including meeting chimps of the opposite sex! 🥰
100y ago, we traveled by steam train & communicated by telegram. Today, we have spacecraft exploring Mars & smartphones. Yet when it comes to testing drugs & chemicals, animals are still subjected to methods developed a century ago. It's time to leave animal testing in the past!
🏃🏼🏃🏽♀️ We need your help getting the Beagle Bill over the finish line!
🐶 If you live in Pennsylvania, please send a quick message to your state senator & representative and let them know that you support protecting animals in PA laboratories! ➡️ humaneworld.org/PAAnimalTest…
‼️ Arthritis medication Vioxx, weight-loss drug Fenfluramine, & allergy drug Seldane all passed animal tests, yet caused heart attacks and strokes, in humans.
These incidents show why we need to prioritize animal-free, human-relevant methods.
