❗ Getting an autism or ADHD diagnosis must stop being one of the 'only ways to unlock support in school', the @childrenscomm has said after data showed around 400,000 children are waiting for their first appointment

School nurses are an important part of creating healthy schools and thinking about the meeting the needs of Children and Young People.

This is so important it’s a parallel process- compassion breeds compassion. Uncared for staff cannot care for children.
Start this autumn term at your #school by understanding the #wellbeing of your #teachers - enabling you to identify strengths, to convey & challenges, to address.

There's a growing understanding of the importance of empathy (the ability to understand, share & respond to emotions/perspectives of others) for leaders. For every competency that helps a leader become more empathetic you can draw a line that connects it with a better way of delivering results.
@hacking_hr has produced a leader's "playbook" for empathy. It sets out:
- 9 strategies to build trust and a people-centric culture through empathy
- 7 ways to improve the experience of people at work through empathy
- 10 key actions for empathy-driven success in leadership
- 8 competencies of the empathetic leader
- key insights on the power of cultivating empathetic leadership at work

There is a case for a whole new neuro developmental workforce in schools those trained to help identify vulnerable children early and put in place create neuro affirmative environments before they are harmed #i-THRIVE
Well said ! If a child is scared, lonely and shamed they will react in a primitive way - defence.
They are our orchids - they need exquisite care and attention but watching them bloom is the most rewarding ❤️

One year ago today, I spent #WorldSuicidePreventionDay in a psychiatric ward after attempting to take my own life.
One year on, I’m out of hospital & have started on my long path to recovery.
Here is what I would have missed had my attempt succeeded 🧵:

#youngpeople can participate in this research...
We know how difficult it can be for many children and young people to express their feelings.
We therefore want to create a different type of questionnaire that uses images and pictures rather than text.
We need young people's help! Get involved: orlo.uk/NRUbH
Katie and other children are the reason Whole system transformation - with all the organisations that work with CYP and families not only collaborating but integrating. We need to identify and meet all infants/ children’s needs before the damage is done.
‘Fighting every step is so hard'
Katie, 17, is autistic and has barely been to school since she was 13.
She joined @BBCNuala to discuss her experience as a child navigating England’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system, and how it has impacted her.

A word about humiliation, as it’s making headlines.
Suicide is complex - people’s lives are complex. But there are features that many tragic deaths have in common.
Humiliation, a sense of injustice, nowhere to turn. Highly destructive & dangerous. #suicideprevention.
This is such an important thread and so true.
We alienate families by using procedural approaches. How different would it be if we took relational approaches - families are generally the experts on their children- we could learn a lot by listening to them.
