Fantastic evening hosting the premiere of ‘The Boy from Bute’ documentary at our College.
The documentary shares the story of Sir William Macewen, a surgical genius who achieved the world’s first successful brain tumour removal.
Thank you to all involved in creating the film!

This is, I believe, unprecedented in the history of UK medicine.
28 eminent UK doctors have written publicly to @LaylaMoran, the new chair of @CommonsHealth, to report something nothing less than scandalous.

Exposition anatomique des organes des sens (c.1755) by Jacques-Fabien Gautier d’Agoty. The publication is one of the earliest anatomical works to use colour printing in its illustrations. #medicalhistory #anatomy

ALT Colour illustration showing various dissections of the face. The focus is mainly on the mouth and jaw. Three are seven illustrations in total including three of the tongue and one showing a human face with a partially removed eye, dissected nose and partially dissected jaw. The tongue is sticking out.

Very disappointing to see @ONS and @DWPgovuk failing to include sufficient disability employment data in these latest figures.
People with epilepsy face significant challenges in gaining, and retaining, employment, and we need to see these statistics.

I’m gonna explain one more time. For those who say people on benefits are scroungers. My story. I had a partner, we had a beautiful family, we had a good life, he died. Our youngest was 3yr, I couldn’t afford childcare, we were grieving, I was forced onto benefits. Not asking for you to feed my kids… just wanted a helping hand to get on our feet. That’s it. What is society if we don’t help each in times of need? I’m so sick of having to explain trauma over and over. Please find some compassion and understand life can suddenly hit you hard. Have you ever needed help or emergency services? Don’t judge when you don’t know someone’s story.

On behalf of my brothers, sister, son, nephew, in laws, aunts and uncles working in the NHS - thank you @DrHilaryJones for this clear explanation #DoctorsStrike -
But also the daily abuse they have to put up with. Vocation always comes before money but things have become so stressful that as you say, many #NHS staff, at all levels are thinking of leaving
Politicians must wake up to this crisis
@gmb
Take 2 minutes to watch this. It’s one of the best interviews I’ve seen so far on the #DoctorsStrike. Thank you @DrHilaryJones.
