Jesus wept this is worse than any of us imagined surely - where is the accountant
Astounding Sunday Times investigation reveals new scandal in SNP’s Socialist Scotland: 800 NHS, central government, council and quango workers whose jobs no longer exist but remain on the public payroll because of the SNP’s ‘no public-sector redundancy’ policy. Estimated cost of paying people to do nothing: £27m a year. One NHS Highland worker has been receiving a full salary and benefits for 17 years despite not having a specific job. The health board refused to say what the worker had been doing for almost two decades and how much they had been paid. Likely cost to the taxpayer is expected to be far higher with several public bodies refusing to disclose salaries for hundreds of the workers awaiting redeployment.

Ocean temperature records are making headlines, but the data behind them is questionable. Questions about sampling coverage kinda make me think - what a load of bollocks! #ClimateData #Science

Indeed Bernie. Bodies lying all over the place here in Europe. No, wait. The 32,000 is not an actual body count. It’s the result of modelling by Imperial College on the basis of several dubious assumptions. People did die of heat this summer. They usually do when it gets v hot e.g 1976, 2003. The exact number is not clear. But even if 32,000 was a real figure we know for sure many, many more will die of cold this winter. They always do.
Climate change killed 32,000+ people in Europe this summer. Trump believes this crisis is a "hoax." Republicans in Congress are following their "Great Leader.” NO to Trump’s fossil fuel agenda. YES to creating millions of jobs by moving our energy system away from fossil fuels.

Have we built back better yet
Government prepping malarkey is annoying. Instead of lecturing public on preparing for power outages, Burnham needs to be prepared to URGENTLY lift ban on drilling in North Sea. If threats to security, increase defence spending etc. Thanks to @CharlieRowley18 for letting me vent

A good example of where we are in reality. Those who crave multiculturalism and those who don’t. Why can’t we all just live together? Because we don’t all agree.
My attempt at discussing what has driven violent riots & wanton destruction in France (not without interruption). I was also reacting to unhelpfully labelling Kemi Badenoch's mention of challenges of migration y'day, as a Trump-like dog whistle #PoliticsLive

This needs to be prosecuted in the name of democracy
STATEMENT: Reform UK has reported ITV, its board, and its undercover reporters to the police. Some of the crimes carry up to 10 years in prison. They forged a passport. They directly interfered in elections and almost certainly altered the results. Being paid to “canvass” for Reform in crucial wards we lost by a few dozen votes. They lied to a veteran about their service and left him “violated”. This is unprecedented. The police are now involved. Scrutiny of political parties is one thing. But anyone breaking the law to try and ruin the lives of Reform’s staff, members or volunteers will be reported to the police and pursued relentlessly in the courts. Here’s what happened 👇

Many will learn from this but will it be enough? Ideology is strong amongst many but this is a harsh but good lesson for those committed.
This video is currently all over social media. Many are expressing sorrow for this woman and sadness at her outrage. My take on it is different. The look you see on her face is not outrage…it’s realisation. It is the look of a white, liberal lefty woman suddenly realising that her entire worldview is/was totally wrong. That what she had spent her life arrogantly portraying as her higher morality and understanding was in fact “suicidal empathy” as described by @GadSaad and that empathy was going to destroy her entire society.

🔥 Winston Marshall was on FIRE on @BBCNewsnight! He went straight for the PM, ripping into the claim that he “came back to Westminster to make changes as if he’s some outsider, not the ultimate career politician who’s spent his life in the bubble”. Then came the real fireworks, as he clashed with Green activist Faiza Shaheen over immigration and benefits. Marshall exposed the ASTONISHING reality: 1.85 million foreign nationals are claiming a staggering £23 BILLION in welfare! His point was simple and devastating — the Labour ideology will never put the British people first. “They’re not British! We’ve got to start putting British people first!” Shaheen, as you’d expect, was offended and pushed back, saying we invited these people here to work in particular sectors where there were labour shortages. Marshall wasn’t having it: “So. So what.” She repeated the point: “The point is, we’ve asked people to come here and work in these sectors.” His reply was blunt: “We should be prioritising the British people.” Why can’t people like Faiza just admit this is wrong, unsustainable, and a betrayal of the British people? Mass low-wage immigration has been a catastrophe. If she actually cared, she’d call out the £23 billion black hole instead of blindly defending a policy that makes her feel virtuous. Like @MrWinMarshall says, put the British people FIRST. No more excuses.

😳 Wow! Robert Jenrick just turned the tables on the BBC live on air while being grilled over Reform’s candidate vetting. Asked about the ITV undercover exposé on some Reform councillors and candidates, Jenrick made the obvious point that there’s only so much any organisation can do when it comes to screening people. Then he flipped it straight back at the interviewer: “Look at the BBC for example. Can you now give a guarantee to your listeners this morning that no BBC presenter in the future will be exposed as a paedophile, as a number have been in the recent past? No, of course you can’t. Because you can’t know absolutely everything about every individual in your organisation.” Absolutely ruthless from Robert! 🔥 Does he know something about someone at the BBC that the rest of us don’t? 🤔 You can practically hear the panic behind the scenes. 😂 Jenrick’s right, though. No amount of vetting can guarantee you know everything about every single person in a large organisation. That’s just reality.

Ask yourself a simple question. Why is almost every celebrity on the same side? Actors, singers, late-night hosts, award-show presenters. Thousands of people with different backgrounds, different lives, different temperaments. And somehow, on every major issue, they land on the exact same opinion, at the exact same moment, with the exact same hashtags. Free minds don't behave like that. An ecosystem does. Now ask a second question. Elon Musk is landing rockets on their own tails. He's bringing internet to villages that never had a phone line. He's building cars that drive themselves and implants that let paralyzed people move a cursor with their thoughts. Artists are supposed to be the ones who dream about the future. Here is a man actually building it. How many of them stand next to him? A handful. Why? Because Hollywood is not a free market of talent. It's a royal court. A young actor doesn't make it because he's good. Hundreds are good. He makes it because someone lets him in: an agent, a casting director, a producer, a studio, an awards committee. Every step is a gate, and every gate has a keeper. When your whole career depends on a few rooms, you learn very quickly what can be said in those rooms and what can't. This is how it works. First you stay silent. Then you nod. Then you repeat. Then you believe. Compromise never arrives all at once. It arrives one dinner, one role, one red carpet at a time. And once you've given up enough, you need the system to stay in place, because the system is the only thing that makes the sacrifice worth it. Want to see the whole mechanism in a single story? For decades, one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood was the subject of accusations from dozens of women, and much of the industry treated it as an open secret. A host even joked about it at an Oscar nominations announcement, and the room laughed. Speaking up seriously meant losing everything. When the truth finally broke, the same industry dressed in black and applauded its own courage. Silence while it pays. Virtue once it's safe. That's the system. And that's the real lie. Not that these people are monsters. Most aren't. The lie is calling it courage. Real courage costs you something. Saying what every room in town already applauds costs nothing. Saying the opposite is what costs. That's why so few artists stand with Elon. Not because they've studied his ideas and rejected them, but because standing there is a career risk they can't afford. Look at what happened to him when he left the consensus. Advertisers fled. Friends disappeared. Invitations stopped. He could afford it. Almost nobody else can. That tells you exactly how free that world really is. So wake up. Stop taking your political cues from people whose paycheck depends on agreeing. A celebrity endorsement is not an argument. It's a loyalty signal. Your vote, your convictions, your children's future: don't outsource them to people who are paid to recite lines someone else wrote. The people who build the future rarely get applause from the people who perform it. Think for yourself. It's the most American thing you can do.
I’m French. I want to talk to Americans who are about to vote Democrat. Not to insult you. To warn you. I come from your future. In France we did everything your progressive politicians promise. Free healthcare, free college, generous welfare, strong unions, heavy regulation, high taxes on the rich, a state that takes care of everything. Public spending close to 57% of GDP, one of the highest on the planet. On paper, it’s the dream. Here’s what it looks like from the inside. France hasn’t passed a balanced budget since 1974. Our debt is above 3,300 billion euros. Interest on that debt is becoming one of the biggest items in the national budget. Our hospitals are collapsing despite record funding. Our schools rank lower every year. Young people with degrees can’t afford an apartment in the city they were born in. Our best engineers leave for London, Zurich and San Francisco. And the rich you wanted to tax? They left too, and took the jobs with them. The promise was protection. The result is stagnation. The worst part is that nobody in France voted for decline. Every single step sounded generous, compassionate, reasonable. One more program. One more regulation. One more tax to fund it. Each step alone makes sense. Fifty years of them, and you wake up in a country that can no longer build a nuclear plant on time or keep its streets safe. I love America because it’s the one place on earth where people still believe they can build something from nothing. I came to Silicon Valley as a self-taught kid and it changed my life. That spirit is the most precious thing your country has. Before you vote, ask yourself one question: is the program you’re voting for making America more like America, or more like France? Trust me. You don’t want to be France.
