Binance got hit for $6.3B and covered every user out of its own pocket in like 72 hours.
Meanwhile I'm still waiting on my $SOMO presale tokens from April 2024 ๐ซ
Getting hacked by North Korea comes with better customer service than some presales

๐จUpdate: If you have never prepared for a major emergency, has never prepped or gathered emergency supplies for a major disaster, you can go to the FEMA website for tips on how to start!

If the trucks stopped rolling tomorrow, the shelves at your grocery store would start thinning out in a day or two. Your tap water would start running dry in two to four weeks, because the chemicals that make it safe to drink show up on a truck every week or two.
Hold onto that second number. It's the one that makes all this 30-day talk make sense, and it's why the Pentagon is planning for 90.
Here's what's actually going on. Dan Bongino told his podcast listeners Monday to get 30 days of food, water and batteries, and he said the warnings came from the UK. Britain's new Be Ready campaign, which launched October 22, really asks for 72 hours. That works out to 9 liters of water per person plus canned food, cash and a wind-up radio.
The 90 is the Pentagon. Under a program called FORTRESS, every major military base in the lower 48 is supposed to be able to run on its own for at least 90 days, with its own power, fuel and water. Bongino brought it up himself. The Pentagon is building Fortress America, he said, so you build Fortress My House.
So what's everyone preparing for? Nobody's naming a date. But Britain's defence secretary wrote that his country has a little over 1,000 days to be ready to fight, and the Pentagon's planners are working off the assumption that a big war takes out the civilian power grid and breaks global supply chains.
That's where the trucking numbers come back in. The American Trucking Associations ran a version of this scenario years ago. The grocery store goes first because stores keep almost nothing in the back room. The water goes later because treatment plants only get chemical deliveries every 7 to 14 days. A 30-day stash basically gets your family past the point where the tap gets sketchy.
Now do the water math. FEMA says plan on a gallon per person per day. A family of four for 30 days needs 120 gallons, which weighs about 1,000 pounds. Picture half a ton of water stacked in a one-bedroom apartment. The 90-day version the bases are planning for comes to a ton and a half.
That's a big part of why governments keep asking for 72 hours. Britain reportedly held off on a campaign like this because officials worried it would scare people, and three days of supplies fits in a hall closet.
Nobody's building your apartment a microgrid, so whatever cushion you want past 3 days, you're the one hauling it up the stairs.

Thank you, Minh. That is the most informative statement purchasers have had in nine months, so let me note what it establishes, in your own words.
It was an asset sale. For nominal amounts. With the fundraise cash and investor capital left behind. That answers the question purchasers have been formally asking Animoca's compliance team and SOMO (BVI) Limited for months, and it confirms the position: the brand moved on, while the roughly $20m that thousands of people paid in 2024, and their contractual claims against the company, stayed behind.
So the announcement you're preparing will be judged on four questions, none of which require Animoca to have taken the cash:
1. Who holds the 2024 fundraise proceeds today, and what remains of them? If Animoca didn't take the money, it sits with the company and the people who sold you the IP. Someone has it.
2. A transfer of a company's operating assets for nominal amounts, out of a company holding some $20m of prepaid purchaser claims, is exactly the kind of transaction a liquidator examines, and the usual comfort for the buyer is having paid fair value. Your words, not mine, say otherwise. Who advised on value?
3. If the plan is to revive SOMO, will the 2024 pre-sale and angel allocations be honoured in any launch? The subscription agreements expressly extend to successor and replacement tokens, so a rebrand doesn't retire them.
4. The sellers were a group of VC friends. The purchasers were thousands of ordinary people who funded what you now hold. What provision did the deal make for them? If the answer is none, say so plainly.
Nobody disputes that you didn't start this fire. But you bought the house, cheap, from the people who did, and the announcement is your chance to show the difference between inheriting a problem and adopting one. Formal letters are already with your compliance team and the company's agent. The record is being kept.
โVC friendsโ
We will publish an announcement shortly but to be clear Animoca did not take any cash from SOMO or the original fundraise. We took over the IP as a favor to a group of VC friends to try to revive it. It was an asset sale for nominal amounts with zero investor capital attached. Animoca has still been working to try to revive SOMO in some form.

Replying to @ysiu
@ysiu under what moral grounds you feel entitled to make this tweet . Around 2 years ago you took over the responsibility thru acquisition of over 20M dollars of hard earned money invested by thousands of common people on @playsomo . Though could argue Market conditions , canโt argue the fact that have given zero communication thru this time to normal people who have entrusted their money which you as leader of @animocabrands took over . Addressing you since the buck stops at the top , and thatโs you . Do you see the irony here and correlation to your above statement, can you trust a big platform when they ignore and choose not to give updates and communication for the sake of decency to thousands of individuals for years ( not VC)
MARFA was truly incredible.
Reflecting on the weekend, I really valued getting to meet so many incredible people who are all contributing to this space in their own ways. Itโs a reminder of just how much talent, passion, and creativity exists within this community.
I donโt think weโll ever be able to repay @AdamWeitsman for what he has done for web3 culturally. But as creators in web3, I believe we have an obligation to show the people who support us that their hard-earned dollars arenโt going to waste.
The best way to show respect and gratitude is to commit to creating real value, pushing the boundaries, and doing everything we can to win for our communities.
My promise to him, although he never sells, is to make his @creepz collection worth far more than what he spent on the party.
Adam is one of us. ๐ฆ
And letโs just say, his OG Creep might be the first to figure out how to shapeshift into human form.
Itโs time to stockpile @mfmeatbags
Bought my first Creepz. @creepz
