Eagles/Cowboys 1980 NFC Championship: We’re going old school today and arguably the best Eagles win over Dallas was when they clinched their first ever ticket to the Super Bowl by taking down their biggest rival. Wilbert Montgomery set the tone early with an iconic 42 yard TD run that still lives in Eagles lore. Philly dominated the first half but left points on the field with two missed FGs and a TD wiped out by penalty, sending the game into halftime tied 7-7. The second half belonged to the defense and the ground game. Multiple turnovers were forced to give the ball back to the offense as Montgomery gashed Dallas for 194 yards and a TD, and Leroy Harris chipped in 60 yards and a score as the Eagles run game salted the game away. Eagles won in dominate fashion 20-7 to win the NFC for the first time in route to the Super Bowl.
