Genuine question: how do you navigate workplaces where dishonesty is common and decisions are wrong for the business and ethically? How do you decide when to speak up and when to let it go? How do you stay true to your values without burning bridges or burning out?

An absolutely phenomenal game and probably the best game I had the privilege of attending. From amazing fights in the first period, to a backboard glass completely shattering delaying the game for at least 30 mins, and a nailbiter ending, you can’t ask for better hockey!
You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here 💥

Why use the person who can hit grand slams when you've got plenty of people who can bunt?

📣 BSides Calgary 2025: Keynote Announcement Update! 📣 We're very excited to update our last keynote announcement, an amazing keynote panel! ICS Security Management, a Business Perspective from Former Front-liners With ICS Experts: Ashif Samnani, Pamela Pouliot, Austin Scott, Paul Smith, Herman Lee, and Paulo Silva, VCP PCNSE hosted at Bow Valley College Annual threat reports from industry thought leaders like Dragos, Waterfall and Mandiant confirm that cyber-physical attacks are increasing at an exponential pace. While smaller in raw numbers, the consequences can be significantly higher. The increase is only part of the story and just one more aspect to the risk management challenges facing decision makers responsible for businesses heavily reliant on industrial control systems. BSides audiences are most likely familiar with the current and emerging ICS threat landscape. Less understood is how these threats are balanced against the multitude of other operational realities such as high capital costs, workforce skill management, regulatory oversight, operational safety, reliability and financial obligations to shareholders. Get your tickets here for an event you don't want to miss! showpass.com/bsidescalgary20… #bsidescalgary #bsides #cybersecurity #speakers

It really sucks knowing who I am, what I'm capable of, and what i feel I deserve, only to watch someone else who deserves the same kind of respect and treatment not get it. It's frustrating, and it leaves me helpless because I want to step in, to fix it, but I can't always do that. I wish there was something I could do. Seeing them overlooked or undervalued when I know how much they're worth, it's not right.

Was making some plans for some future Conditional Access Policy work and noticed that now you can define specific networks (ipv4 & ipv6).. no idea when that got added, or how I missed it, but lots of possibilities that make me happy. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/en…

For the record, I am neither an employee, spokesperson, nor shareholder of CrowdStrike. Yet, it seems that reality doesn't matter in the midst of this witch-hunt. It's incredibly disappointing to see the responses to what I've shared, but honestly, I'm not all that surprised. The level of anger and disappointment is palpable, and while it's disheartening, I'd rather have the venting directed at me than at someone else who might not be able to handle it as well. What's even more revealing is how easily some people resort to abusing the anonymity provided by keyboards and faceless usernames. The vulgarity and personal attacks I've faced are staggering, and it's clear that these words would never be spoken directly to my face. I've been called things here and in my DM's that I haven't encountered since I worked in corrections. I never would have expected such an outcome from sharing my thoughts. The intensity of the backlash, the threats, and even attempts to involve my employer calling for my immediate termination in this have been shocking. Imagine a world where this kind of energy and resources was directed towards positive change instead of destructive pursuits. It's a thought that, while perhaps naive, underscores the potential for using a collective passion for something genuinely constructive rather than tearing each other down.
Seeing the torches and pitchforks coming out targeting CrowdStrike is wild. Was it an oopsie? Absolutely. Nobody is immune to them and anybody who says otherwise is a clown. CrowdStrike will bounce back, it's a far superior product and an awesome team of folks over there. Being an asshole to them or the product isn't helping anything.

It's kind of a strange world when you can trust a social media platform more than the network news.

I don’t understand the strategy or approach to phishing simulation testing when you’re deliberately going out of your way to deceive people into failure. Really hits an ethical nerve of mine..

Spinning up a lab environment to create a sample report 👀 It's interesting how there is always something therapeutic about spinning up machines and building domains & vulnerable configurations.
