🇷🇼 What better way to celebrate #UNDay2026 than to put the next generation in the driver's seat?
Michelle Akande, a student from @GHA_rwanda, took over as RC a.i., demonstrating what young girls can achieve when given a seat at the decision-making table.

On #DayOfTheGirl, we stand for every girl’s right to learn and choose her own future. Romanița chose education over child marriage. Today, she inspires other Roma girls to pursue their dreams. Together, we can #EndChildMarriage. Read her story: bit.ly/UNGirls_Day
A testament of our shared humanity through Rwanda’s openness to people from unlikely places in need of a home! The story is of Afghanistan’s only boarding school for girls in Rwanda. theworld.org/segments/2026/1…

Morocco's newly-appointed Prime Minister Fatima Zahra Mansouri is not only the country’s first female PM in history but Africa's only Prime Minister with an urban planning background. Morocco's cities are relatively well organized and beautiful, with advanced public transportation, so we look forward to Morocco setting the standard in city development under her leadership.

A light time with my granddaughter. The kind of ordinary afternoon that feels like a gift. Watching her laugh, holding her hand, I'm reminded how precious these simple moments are. And even as my heart feels full, it also turns outward, to the families around the world whose days are shadowed by conflict. I think of the parents trying to keep their children safe, the homes left behind, the childhoods interrupted too soon. So I hold both feelings together: gratitude for what I have, and sorrow for what others are enduring.
And I want to say this to the leaders in conflict: please come back to your senses. There is always a political solution. Peace is the best medicine. I wish every child, everywhere, could know the same lightness I saw today. A safe place to sleep, a hand to hold, a day without fear, and the freedom to simply be a kid.

Extreme period pain is NOT normal. Let’s get Kenya’s statistics, amplify the voices, and make diagnosis, treatment & care accessible to every endo warrior. #EndometriosisAwareness #EndoWarriors
💯 @unfpachief!
50% of maternal and neonatal deaths are in humanitarian crises.
@UNFPA calls for protection of mothers, babies and health workers.
On #WorldHumanitarianDay, see how maternal and reproductive healthcare and protection services save lives: unf.pa/sbw
Across Afghanistan, mothers are running out of ways to feed their children. Child malnutrition has reached critical levels. Funding shortfalls are forcing @WFP to scale back support millions depend on. We have the capacity - but without funding, we cannot reach them on time.

In my capacity as Dean of the African Ambassadors to Sweden, I had the delight of welcoming the newest members of the Women African Ambassadors’ family at the Rwandan residence. We were pleased to welcome the Ambassadors of Namibia, Egypt, and the United Republic of Tanzania, and to brief them on our ongoing activities as we continue to strengthen cooperation and friendship among African women ambassadors in Sweden. I look forward to working together in the spirit of unity, solidarity, and mutual support.

Yes, those photos you’ve seen are real.
More than 18 years ago, a baby named Lamine Yamal and his mom Sheila met Lionel Messi at a UNICEF fundraising photoshoot.
Today, their achievements on the pitch inspire millions. Off the pitch, both Messi and Lamine Yamal use their voices and platforms as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors to support and advocate for children around the world.
The goal? That every child survives, thrives, and fulfils their potential.
We are proud to have them on our team.

📍Sexual violence is declining in #Rwanda, according to the 2025 #RwandaDHS7 report.
This is a massive step forward, but the work doesn’t stop here. Every single case is still one too many.
➡️ Let’s keep pushing for a safer, violence-free future for everyone.

I am here today because of peace: the peace my parents found when they fled war and built a life in a country that generously took them in.
For me, the UN Charter is not an abstract document. It is a lived experience.
That is why I am running to be the next UN Secretary-General. #newUN

Today’s story behind the numbers: This #FBI puts away another child predator and sex trafficker.
23-year-old Cristian Morris recruited teenage girls, gave them drugs and posted sexually explicit ads offering them for commercial sex. He forced them to engage in sex acts with clients near the “blade,” an area where traffickers commonly place their victims to engage in commercial sex, in Houston and Dallas. Morris also transported victims between the two cities.
For multiple months, Morris instructed his victims how to solicit clients, how much to charge, and gave them condoms. He kept all proceeds. He was ultimately arrested after he had posted commercial sex ads for the youngest victim, a fifteen-year-old girl.
Morris was sentenced to 32 years following an investigation from the FBI and our law enforcement partners at the Houston Police Department.
This FBI continues our historic effort in fighting violent crime against children and putting away child abusers—locating nearly 7,000 child victims (up 144%) and arresting nearly 3,000 child predators and human traffickers. We will not stop until these criminals are brought to justice.
