I was considering starting an anon account at one point, after watching the @realEstateTrent journey from the very beginning (incredible follow), but glad I decided to be myself. To introduce myself, I’m Alec, from Raleigh, NC, a lifelong entrepreneur, and I’ve been in the event ticketing space for the last decade, along with some SaaS, ecom, and real estate concepts. I’ll be sharing more about how event tickets, including behind a the scenes look at how event ticket markets work to your favorite events, sports (Super Bowl, Final Four, etc.) and concerts (Taylor Swift, etc.)

Spot on. Price caps don’t create more supply or decrease demand. For high demand events it wouldn’t be “who’s willing to pay the most”, it would just something arbitrary, like luck. We allocate basically everything in our society based on price, why are tickets different?
What did people think tickets were going to cost for the first World Series in Milwaukee in 44 years? And no, price caps don’t fix anything either. If tickets were capped at some arbitrary value, then they would just get snapped up and there would be no inventory for anyone.

We won’t get these moments in the future. As a result of this, hard copy tickets will continue to be a valuable collectible

The vast majority of companies would be better spent trying to figure out how to increase their token usage, rather than decrease it.
I can tell you where every penny of token spend is going against my business, can you? This whole analysis cost me $0.12 Here's how I track everything my agents are doing to tie AI use to business impact 🧵

They certainly weren’t tickets to the Flyers last game of the year 😆
I left two Flyers tickets in my car. Sadly, someone broke in and left two more

More teams should take note of this.
The Dodgers aren’t just giving fans entering the stadium a bottled water and a rally towel but there are crates of water bottles around Dodger Stadium with employees giving water out to whoever asks for a bottle.

"Prediction markets put the squares on a level playing field" is one of the greatest and most effective marketing deceptions of our time. Goes super hard if you're in the 99% who don't understand how it really works.

Why haven’t the teams demanded a change here? This has a huge negative impact on both ticket sales and attendance.
There’s a chance everyone involved won’t know what time tomorrow’s game is until like 1am tonight. Total clown show @MLB

As a father of a 7 year old, this is exactly the path I’m taking. Poker teaches risk/reward, emotional regulation, and perseverance. The skills and mindset I developed in poker have transformed life & career. Teach early & encourage them to use the skills where they can scale beyond themselves.
I’m teaching my kids poker early so they can benefit from all the valuable skills the game teaches. Then encouraging them to use those skills to succeed in professions outside of poker.

107db is rediculous and completely un-needed and a real liability for a children’s event.

This is a ticketing business topic that is rarely talked about. With proliferation of better technology options such as HD, 4k, and eventually immersive experiences (Vision Pro, etc) WHERE you sit matters more. The last row of the venue is exponentially more impacted by tech
Unpopular opinion: Paying for tickets to a sporting event is a huge waste of money.. You get the best seat in the house from your very own couch for FREE. I'll never understand the appeal of spending a ton of money to get a bad view of the game.

This seems like a spectacular deal until you look at flights pricing from both cities.
You can watch 2 playoff teams in air conditioning for just $12. No reason not to go to this if you live in Tampa Bay. If anything, just treat it as a bar with a baseball game going on 😂

I was recently at an industry conference where the question was asked to a group of entrepreneurs: how many have used ChatGPT? Significantly under 10% of hands went up. 40% of people aren’t using AI for food. And we’re still really, really early.
There is literally no way 40% of consumers used an AI tool to make a purchase in food unless we are greatly exaggerating what one considers AI.

Reading between the lines, "big law" isn't the winner here. Using entertainment tickets as a lead magnet/relationship builder does. The good news is you don't need to be big law to implement this strategy.
After years of supporting Eric and Kevin's crusade against Big Law, I'd like to switch sides. Last night I crashed the Kirkland & Ellis box at the Moody Center for a concert. Free food. Open bar. Great views. Spent the evening talking to partners with the kind of eye bags that take a decade of doc review to properly cultivate. Every one of them was warm, gracious, eager to mitigate risk. I get it now. Big Law serves a purpose. That purpose is a box at the Moody. So please accept this notice as me formally rescinding my anti-Big-Law stance. Kirkland, I'm available any night you need a body in Suite 34. p.s. open to revisiting after @smblawgroup swings AT&T Stadium

I saw some jokers on Facebook having to be chased away from the Lenovo Parking lot yesterday afternoon, eventually having to threaten trespassing. I get being excited, but come on...
Tomorrow is the day! Friendly reminder, @LenovoCenter property doesn’t open until 5:00 am. See y’all there!

What's going to be left for these folks? The trainer's used socks? It's not like things are even cheap here

If you aren’t going to sell cigarettes, you shouldn’t be selling @DKSports gift cards.
Walgreens putting gambling prepaid cards in the “Financial services” section is comically wild.

We’ve officially hit the point where AI UGC is cheaper AND better than real UGC. This video is 100% AI and cost under $1. (And no, it’s not Sora, Veo, or Kling). My system is built for mass-scale organic across thousands of accounts. Here is why it wins: - Hyper-realistic visuals: Natural physics and movement look flawless. - Insane cost efficiency: Costs pennies compared to traditional UGC programs. -Consistent audio: High-quality, rock-solid voiceover throughout. - Infinite scaling: Videos can run to any length cost-effectively. This changes everything. Want the WORKFLOW? Check the comments!

The experience in a watch party can be very similar to the experience sitting in the highest levels of the venue at the actual event, at a fraction of the cost. 💯
Watch parties for big sporting events are the primary product for the masses. Tickets for the game for luxury items. Watch parties are more accessible. Which means, inevitably, that the most popular watch parties will start charging, or charge more than the currently do.

Imagine how often this must be occurring in NCAA sports, just not flagged/investigated because the betting amounts and scrutiny are much lower. People have complained forever that sports were rigged, and these cases bolster the argument. The leagues have a problem
Former NBA players Malik Beasley and Ed Davis, and an NBA agent are among six defendants indicted Monday on charges related to an alleged sports betting scheme that targeted at least four games during the 2023-24 season, according to a federal indictment released Monday. espn.com/nba/story/_/id/4921…
