My heart breaks. For the people of Iran who protest for their rights. For the women in Afghanistan who yearn for their education. For my fellow American women who desperately seek their rights to healthcare. And for those who have not properly understood the larger matter at hand

Schools reopened across Afghanistan today, for all boys. Teenage girls now being denied an education. This young girl asks "why shouldn't we go to school?" Life under Taliban rule seems to be reverting back to the 90s.

MICROAGGRESSIONS continued: 16.Do not treat them with pity or an air of superiority. We are privileged to not have to endure the upheaval of our homes. We have infinitely more opportunities as a result, & this doesn’t not make us better than another person.

18.Do NOT ask their political opinions about different individuals or groups in Afghanistan. They will continue to carry a feeling of not being safe for some time. Discussing politics that has impacted their lives is a very uncomfortable situation.
