A somewhat common but strange response to the consumer request for AI disclosures on products is to suggest that if you did this, you should have to disclose all sorts of other things (how many people worked on the product, what other software you used, what hardware it was made on, etc.)
I can understand that some people don't like the idea of having AI disclosures, so they immediately try to think of arguments against it. But respectfully, this one makes no sense.
Product labeling requirements are driven by demand, either from consumers or from competitors. There is no significant cross-section of the public asking to know if a game was made on machines with AMD or Intel hardware. There is no significant cross-section of the industry demanding that their competitors list whether or not they used Adobe Premier.
Product labeling is not about giving you a complete set of information about how a product was made. It's about giving the consumer information that a significant number of them might want to know before making a purchase. Which ones of these get codified can be driven by consumer demand, competitor demand, or - most commonly - a combination of the two.
This is not weird. It's good, actually.
And it's especially good if an industry takes proactive steps to voluntarily label their products accurately, because then they avoid the inevitable alternative, which is that the consumer demand for the missing labeling produces a political movement which ends with mandatory labeling designed by a political body.
Guys, Sam's product is too powerful! We should just have him turn that shit off and close up shop.
Been waiting for this one!
Another huge endeavour just landed on niri-git: release binds and modifier-only binds! You can open the overview with Super by itself, or bind push-to-talk.
I combined press and release config: if press runs, release is guaranteed to run. So push-to-talk never gets stuck!

Seriously considering airgapping my dev PC and getting a dedicated shitbox for browsing the web and other online stuff.

Final version. Uses @usgraphics Berkeley Mono. Gonna give out a few free shirts to some cryptography peeps as well
Really wish Berkeley Mono had a closed-top 4 variant though, would be so much better

My guess is that they designed it on paper, just like Zelda 1 and SMB 1-3, because the game was developed in 1987-1989 and PCs weren't that powerful back then. So they drew it on paper and then punched them in by hand...
Check out this cool article, btw: chrismcovell.com/secret/week…
Just think about how you can tell if a game is made in Unity or Unreal. Think about how you can feel the Source engine game movement and physics. This is all game programming, and treating it like just throwaway code is making games more bland and boring.
It's fine, IMO. There are many many interesting directions in which the limit can be pushed *other* than graphical fidelity. The writing has been on the wall for a while now!
This. Shit. Sucks. We're gong to enter an age where games stall, not due to lack of push from developers or consoles, but simply due to upgrade and hardware costs. You cannot push gaming limits when 90% of your market doesn't have the hardware to run the games. When will it revert to normal? Who knows. 3-5 years?
Recommended article for anyone who wants to render some nice letters. Very cool!

After TEN LONG YEARS, Order of the Sinking Star is out Now! On Switch 2, PS5, and ... it's at the top of Popular New Releases on Steam, already!
Thank you everyone for your support during this long, long, long, long, long development!
Here's MGS2 doing dynamic foot placement 25 years ago on a console with 32MB of RAM, ~300MHz CPU, and a fraction of the budget. I don't care to bash on anyone, but let's keep the record straight, this is not a feature that bloats the budget or causes perf issues.
