Ten years since my dad died. Time bends in strange ways after that. You stop being linked to that other human. And when the chain breaks, it is not only sadness, or confusion. It is a novel kind of freedom. Sudden, uncomfortable, almost too open; a wide, vast horizon. Alone, now, in a new way. The future expands, but it also becomes painfully predictable. A day of understanding and, ironically, of life. Not less beautiful, maybe. But more exposed.
