I realized what I felt meh about Wolfenstein vs Doom or Quake, and it's that the good guys just have no sauce at all. Doomguy/Ranger are supersoldiers with badass tech and armor. Blazkowicz is a dude in a jacket and half the time he and The Resistance™ are using bad-guy stuff.

black holes are like a censor bar in reality, i think it's pretty wild that a concept like that is even a thing. there's discussion that if gravitational singularities truly exist they can't be actually be observed without breaking the universes causality, so they're kept hidden

Black bars are such a blunt type of horror. Blurring obscures details but still gives you the idea of something. In documents, putting [REDACTED] still gives you letters to glaze over. A black bar feels like your brain is protecting you from something you weren’t meant to see.
