Just had a revealing chat with my Gran (Nana). She told me about my great grandfather who I didn’t get the chance to meet.
She said “he built this house by himself”. At first, I thought she meant we had some undiscovered family wealth and he had paid for the construction of the house.
After further discussion it turns out he was a simple Rail worker. He saved his money and bought some land. He dug the foundations and laid all the bricks entirely singly handedly in the evenings after work.
Both the house he built and the railway tracks still stand proud to this very day, more than a hundred years later.
In contrast, I ordered a new office swivel chair online last week. Myself, accompanied by two friends, multiple tool kits, as well as the might of the Information Age are currently returning, what can only be described as an unbalanced and unsittable chair to the shop in person.
Two of the employees at the shop, after several telephone calls and long periods looking at their computers have decided they are also unable to assemble said chair. They have agreed to send me a display model instead by delivery next week.
All this has left me really questioning the definition of social progress and how far apart we really are today from the “great” generation.
Why doesn’t she move in with her brother/husband?

What are you saying?
Reform and Restore have more in common than divides them.
If Farage can put the well-being of the country above his ego, a decent coalition could be merged.
Lots of questions on the ITV 'investigation' into Reform.
It's absolutely scandalous how those journalists behaved, to be entirely honest.
Secretly recording members/councillors who made comments that clearly weren't meant for wider audiences.
Evidently I have my disagreements with Reform, but the way those journalists lied to gain trust and then publish private remarks is vile.
Gutter journalism.
Reform voters blaming their demise on Restore is like a fat person blaming their metabolism.
Both lack accountability and self-awareness.

Choose how you would like to arrive at UK civil war.
It’s totally unavoidable at this stage
Labour Win - more immigration = civil war
Reform Win - won’t stop immigration = civil war
Restore Win - enforce immigration that immigrants will start civil war over
Conclusion = civil war
Can’t we just make Rupert Lowe the de facto King of the UK and accelerate remigration?
NEW🚨: Rupert Lowe has used a series of recent dinners meetings to suggest that Nigel Farage will soon leave his position in Reform and to imply that Rupert could try to engineer a 'reverse takeover' of Reform and be the leader merging Restore and Reform Together according to sources inside of Westminster

Future generations will look back at the war on plastic, the same way we look back at open defecation today.
Restore gaining the same vote as the Lib Dems and Greens combined, in this particular constituency, is monumental.
The far right are collectively labelled “violent thugs” during a Birmingham protest.
In contrast, the murderer of Sir David Amess seems to bear zero collective responsibility. I wonder why?
Five years on, we remember Sir David Amess, a dedicated parliamentarian who served his constituents with kindness and determination.
Today, my thoughts are with his family, friends and all who came to know him.
His murder struck at the heart of our democracy. We owe it to him and others we have lost to protect those who dedicate themselves to public service.
We will not allow hatred and violence to deter those who step forward to serve.
That’s more like it, Nige 👍
Today, I announced that there will be NO ASYLUM SYSTEM under a Reform government. It will be suspended.
Since 2000, we have granted legions of people asylum. Whilst some fled persecution, many have scammed Britain.
They came illegally - by lorry or boat, or by overstaying their visa. And then claimed asylum. Most have received hundreds of thousands of pounds in benefits and state support whilst here - NHS, dental care, food, hotels, HMOs, and welfare.
Terrorists, murderers and rapists have broken in. It is a national security emergency.
Successive Prime Ministers have betrayed our country by failing to stop this.
As Prime Minister, I will end the scam.
But what we've set out today goes beyond this.
The scale of the betrayal is so great a major response is needed. That’s why Zia and I gave more detail on Operation Restoring Justice today.
All of the Tories' and Labour's immigration schemes - Afghanistan, Palestine - will immediately be closed.
Every asylum grant given in the prior 5 years will be reviewed. Those who came illegally, or from a safe country, will have their asylum grant revoked and be deported.
Countries that refuse to take back their illegal migrants and criminals will face visa bans, sanctions, and tariffs.
The few who genuinely cannot go back to their home country will go to safe third countries we strike deals with.
We will review everyone granted asylum under the ludicrously suppressed Afghanistan schemes. Those who directly helped our armed forces in combat will keep their asylum grant. That’s only right.
But all the others will have to leave. If Afghanistan won't take them back, we will strike deals with safe third countries to do so.
All foreign nationals convicted of crime will be deported.
All migrant welfare will end. All the loopholes will be closed.
And we will make it IMPOSSIBLE to live in Britain illegally.
We'll massively hike penalties for landlords renting to, and businesses employing, illegal migrants.
And we'll enable and encourage all parts of local government to conduct migration checks - housing, trading standards, environmental health, and licensing. This will mean 10 times more migration enforcement capacity.
And, critically, councils will be allowed to KEEP the fines on landlords and employers they levy.
Councils will then have a huge incentive to identify illegal migrants and send the data to Deportation Command, who will oversee the exit of these illegal migrants from Britain. Councils will therefore be incentivised to hire more officials, identify more illegal migrants, and levy more fines.
This will make it impossible to live in Britain illegally, let alone thrive. Illegal migrants won't be able to rent or work, and certainly not get welfare.
Hundreds of thousands will voluntarily leave. And we will enforce the deportation of everyone illegally here who doesn't.
All in all, this plan will see well over a million people who are here illegally (or who came here illegally) leave Britain.
It will restore justice.
