imitone’s built-in instruments are behaving as programmed. imitone includes a suite of eight (8) built-in instruments. there is no ninth instrument.

MIDI 2.0 can distinguish between attacking instruments and sustaining instruments using MIDI-CI ProgramList property. midi.events/g/#Property_Exch… Instruments are assigned a category (Keys, Strings, Winds, Percussion, etc) which hints at the best method of control. 📸 Dolo Iglesias

CC #11 (expression) is related to Volume — it affects the intensity of an instrument. midi.events/g/#Expression Unlike volume, expression can change the character of the sound, ranging from a whisper to a boom. This is useful for "sustaining instruments". 📸 Johannes Krupinski

MIDI 1.0 only allows for 128 instruments, unless Bank Select is used to add another 16,000 categories. midi.events/g/#Bank_Select MIDI 2.0 has a single message for Program and Bank, and can exchange Property data about each entry — such as name, category and tags. 📸 Derick Daily
